Lol, great entertainment ..... especially the 'who can miss the most' penalty competition at the end!
Good ol' Lucy Bronze finally sorted things out by taking the tried an' trusted, no nonsense, Franny Lee penalty approach!
After more than 75 mins play you just couldn't see that ending happening, or even an England goal coming, but the England subs instantly gave us a real threat and presence, and they made all the difference ........ Englands superb first goal in the 79th minute then added the belief that all might not yet be lost ........ the confident and aggressive swedes had looked more than comfortable at 2-0 up, knocking the ball around almost at will, and, with only 11 minutes left to play, they certainly hadn't expected penalties at that point ..... I'll bet they'll be heading back home on that plane tomorrow feeling shellshocked and wondering just how they managed to get knocked out!

Bit like tennis has 3 sets and not 5, need to drop extra time and just go straight to pens , especially with so many knee injuries in the women's game. That shootout was embarrassing

Hampton looked about 3ft tall in those penalties.I'm not sure we can blame lack of pay on directing a ball towards a rather large goal (realtively speaking) with a somewhat diminutive custodian trying to stop you.

Not even sure. There are clear signs that at the higher levels the women's game is levelling off. Since we got into the knock-out stages that's the message I'm getting. I don't think we will again see the flagrant domination of a team like the U.S.A.

My logic is that Sweden are a better team than Italy. On paper, we’re better.

Beauty from silky Ilky though. The last set are an absolute joy and, as for the Brazilians, how can anyone take them seriously as a footballing nation after watching those penalties? ;-)

England certainly put you through the ringer don't they? Two very sloppy goals given away through defensive errors. Jess Carter needs removing from the starting lineup for her own protection (hope she's not on social media for the next few days) though what Williamson was doing running away for the 2nd goal I have no idea. Surely she would have realised that her club teammate was going to beat Carter to the ball yet she left the path to goal clear as she went to mark space before turning around to see who she could moan at. Fantastic captaincy.
Wiegman never seems to learn that a midfield solely consisting of Kiera Walsh will get overrun time and time again against a physically imposing team that will press. Cost us against France and nearly cost us tonight. Hampton had to resort to kicking the ball long which mostly just gave the ball back to Sweden.
In Wiegman's defence though the changes she made in the second half worked out rather well. Kelly & Agyemang really made a difference. Shame we couldn't get that effort out of Chloe when she was wearing a blue shirt.
