Heard anything about if it’s Ederson or Ortega thats leaving (or both)?
I was told weeks ago like I quoted here. ‘Club monitoring the goalkeeper situation’

Wasn’t just monitoring Ederson.

However from discussions I have had, the feeling is Ederson definitely wants a new challenge if he can find one.

Don’t be shocked if both leave.

I don't seem to recall amazing things from his first season at burnley in the prem. I know he's been very good last season in the championship. but is the step-up to city too high? I don't know, a bit worried about that one. Everyone's talking about a buyback but it hardly seems a convenient fee anyway.

I thought he was terrible and looked like la school boy who was out of his depth when in the Prem last time. Hopefully he’s improved and bulked up a bit since then

City have produced some great players from the CFA in recent years. No doubt that Trafford should be one of the next great ones.

Let's see if we can get his save percentage down to Bravo numbers when the opposition comes running 3 against him :P

I thought the same. A lot of goals they conceded seemed to be caused by Trafford and his defenders trying to play out from the back and losing the ball on the edge of their own box

Ederson is 31 the finished article , Trafford is 22 and still learning , He has bits to improve in his game from his own words he knows this. But he was still the best keeper in championship last season. He’s English , homegrown and wants to play for us.

He’s also 6ft 6 that’s a major bonus for a keeper.
Who says he wants to play for us?

This and the ter Stegan rumours make sense as Ortega replacements but think we can do better for replacing Ederson. Trafford makes the most sense due to being homegrown

He was dropped for Burnley in favour of Muric who was worse last time he had a go at being a premier league number 1. He couldn't handle the pressure of having to be consistently excellent every single game that the prem demands, kept making very poor errors and company had to pull him for a keeper he knew was even more error prone to protect him.

I'm sure hes progressed in the 18 months since and that lesson will do him good in the future but it's a monumental leap to go from Burnley number 1 to City's. Gut tells me thats way too big of an ask. Number 2, getting the cup games and improving would be an ideal progression but thats a tough sell to somebody who is used to being a number 1 elsewhere.

If this does happen will it be the first time we have actually used a buy back clause for a first team squad player going forward ? Don’t think Angelino counted as it was with a view to selling on again. Have I missed someone ?
If it happens, it sends a message to every other player that we sell: do well, and you might return.

I’ll be totally honest I haven’t followed the lads career since he left us so have no clue how good he actually is. Vaguely remember his last stint in the Prem with Burnley being underwhelming but a lot can change for a young keeper in 2 years. His stats last season in the championship were really impressive so if he comes in then fingers crossed he’ll be up to the challenge.

I think people highlighting his distribution need to remember that nobody out there is as good as prime Eddy. But he’s not been at those levels for a while now himself. I’d suggest it’s Pep that needs to change his approach regarding keepers. 2 of the best keepers around the last few years have been Courtois and Donnaruma who are nothing special at all with their feet but have both contributed massively to their teams by just being good at keeping the ball out of the net.

The games changed, we’ve changed. I wouldn’t be against us going a little more direct this coming season anyway and hitting Erling more often from the back. Teams seem to have figured out how to deal with our build up play recently
