Better than Bazunu for distribution in the youth team? Genuine question btw as you would have seen more than me for both of them.
Omds I remember the hype around that kid. Then he ended up the worst GK in the league …

Lightning in a bottle that we managed to bring in as good of a keeper footwork wise as Eddy at the time we had a team so dominant, so brilliant technically at that time.

At present we aren’t that and I’m convinced bringing in a keeper who’s better at the core aspects of shot stopping would improve us. Trafford may be that, may not be only time will tell if it happens. Still stand by we need a new keeper and Ederson is done. No hate at all either. He’s the best keeper in this clubs history
The way we have been playing since Pep has been here Ederson was the perfect fit and not many teams could even come close to us in the league and for a few unlucky bounces of the ball in Europe too.

Over the last 18 months our style of play has been sussed out out we are game ball for any team. A reset new ideas were/are needed and that needs to start with a solid back line with a keeper that we can rely on to save shots first and foremost as to a keeper who can start build up play

Get that back line solid even if it’s to drop back by ten yards and our forwards will look after themselves. By dropping back it creates more space for Haaland

I really hope we go into the new season with new ideas if it’s the same Pep ball we are in for another long season. The CWC doesn’t fill me with any confidence he’s going to change but hopefully he does

Most teams dont press us exactly because Ederson is in net. His presence alone is enough to completely counter an entire gameplan. It was the same as having a prime kyle walker and so teams didnt even bother to play balls over the top for their left winger to chase. He is so good at not just beating any press but exploiting it and getting regular assists that the only response is to just not do it at all which gives our already shaky suicidal backline some breathing space.

People dont recognise how vital that has been to our success. The second we dont have Ederson in net, you'll see a return of teams legitimately employing a high press against us and you'll see a return of the regular fuck ups costing us goals that we saw before we had Ederson.

We cannot successfully play Peps current brand of football without Ederson. Now presuming he doesnt persist with something thats no longer viable, some might say a forced change of tactics, might actually benefit us but thats a different conversation.
This is a valid argument but you act like Ederson is still THAT guy, he’s made a lot of errors this season. He had a poor CWC too. He peaked during the treble like many others. It’s no slight on him but he needs a change of scenery.

Clubs don’t press us mainly because it’s the best way it nullify our weapons like Haaland in the box and Foden since there’s zero half spaces.

When teams DO press us we see the most joy because the spaces open up. Last season our best games came from teams that wanted to play against us like Newcastle 4-0 and Chelsea 3-1.

We have all noticed that a change is needed because football is changing and teams have learned how we play. Losing Ederson is sad and we will all miss his patience but we could play quicker now and I think Reinjders, Cherki, and especially Haaland x Marmoush would adore that.

Exciting and fresh ideas/players. Can’t wait to see the new City

If you are talking about Bazunu, he ended up as the keeper with the worst team in the league, not sure if he was the worst keeper. Played very well with Ireland and won player of the year. Also won player of the year when on loan the season before he left City.
Trafford had a similar fate with Burnley and ended up being replaced by Muric.
Both probably too young and lacking experience at the time.

This should be a pretty straight forward deal. Interesting to see the step up Trafford will have to make it at City. Good player tho

He is that guy. Like I said, just his presence on the pitch grants us that advantage of not being pressed.

I dont disagree we need to change up our approach, I've claimed for over 2 years we're better suited to a quicker attack, even saying it when we were winning, but none of that potential change in style is dependent on having a new keeper. Infact, edersons unrivaled long ball distribution would help us be much more effective in that kind of approach than we'd be with any other keeper.

This may be in jest, but the way things are going, I wouldn't be half surprised if Chelsea comes in and buys another of our academy grads to replace Sanchez.

Let’s agree to disagree. The Juventus game alone was worrying when he’d give away the ball consecutively. Last season where we had to keep swapping GKs because they’d take turns on who can have the most stinkers. Even if you discard the last 2 seasons. He’s not hitting he’s peak levels. He’s not saving us again like in the Inter final. I’m not saying he’s completely finished. He got 4 assists for crying out loud. But similar to saying KDB or Bernardo are still THAT guy. When they’re clearly not. They’re not immortal. Yes they still have a high IQ and experience etc but to turn back the hands of time and run a game against Madrid or PSG ? Nah. Not in 2025. Same goes for a number of our players.

You right a change in style doesn’t depend on a GK. more on a system change. Actually passing to players like Haaland x Marmoush when they’re making a run. I saw many times that Bernardo x Gundo refused to pass the ball to Reinjders during the Al Hilal game when he made runs into space. It’s things like that that have to change.
