Tino Livramento

Can’t blame Howe for that though mate?
Yes you can. fully, they still. don't have a DOF or dedicated person to look after transfers, so the manager needs to be fully on it, Howe needs to insist on what he wants and harrass the board not sit and wait, then with a month to go be in the static position they are.

Just like when they got top 4 last time and champions league they haven't kicked on, the manager needs to shoulder some of the blame

I said on here weeks back that this will be the season Howe is seen as a limiting factor at Newcastle.

His seemingly insistence on wanting Prem proven players when they are the most expensive players in Europe is baffling.

Where is the scouting?

You cannot complain about PSR when you are spending near on £60m for average players like Elanga.
Is it him truly or is the club just horrible at scouting? There‘s enough good players on the outside who would improve them. The amount of hidden gems in Ligue 1 or even Ligue 2 is truly amazing

But Howe isn’t in charge of infrastructure? And Newcastle aren’t run by dummies?

Reading the Newcastle forums, I think some of them recognise a frustration with him predominantly looking at Prem only.

Maybe he thinks he has a decent team and by adding players from the Prem who can replicate their numbers he thinks is the way forward.

It doesn't' always work out like that though and you end up paying a huge premium going down that road.

I agree though mate, there are plenty of players in continental Europe good enough, South America too.

They won't improve by selling Isak, for example, and bringing in 2 or 3 players instead of him.
The likes of Liverpool, Chelsea, arsenal have bought several top players and the gap is too wide.
Imagine Isak going and bringing in 3 players yet at the same time Wirtz, Frimpong etc are making their way to Liverpool.
Newcastle need to sit it out for a season or two and build their squad without losing their better players.
Newcastle wound be better off in the short term bringing in 2 PL players on loan and consolidating a top 6 position.

Why would they not improve by selling them? They have areas where they need replacements and upgrades. This transfer window they have limited ability to spend due to their PSR limitations. They could have spent similar amounts to Liverpool by simply selling Isak to them. Unless they do well again this season Isak will not extend and will be lost for a smaller fee to another club.

There is a similar argument to Livramento, who is a great player but could easily be shifted for a price that could have facilitated signing Trafford, Pedro, and Ekitike.

The problem with keeping these guys players is what happens if they don’t improve? If other teams are all widening the gap and they have not addressed their problems then their ability to finish in a CL spot will be more limited.

Isak and Livramento are good players but pretending as if they are world class/quintessential like Rodri or KdB is a silly stance from Newcastle.

Well. seeing as bar Elanga the other 4 targets have signed for other clubs and Trafford probably also now ours, whoever they have co-ordinating things seems a bit of a dozy **** tbf.

Even some geordies are getting twitchy as to the clubs transfer stratergy.

Anyway who fucking cares about the horse punching fuckers beyond Livermento

Isak cost £63m , Livramento about £40m.
That's money they still owe ( a good part of it anyway)
You may well be right but getting in a couple of proven PL players on loan, while not a long term soution, may be better for them this season.
Isak is vital for them to get a good run in the CL.

I guess this is getting resolved one way or another in the coming days. If he signs a new deal then it's obviously over for this summer, but if he were to reject it...

They also may feel its worth cashing in and getting a new RB and giving Isak a better contract?

It'd be funny if he did a Delph.

I still think this gets done. We wouldn't be at the table with £65 million as per the Times report if he wasn't for sale. The deal for the Burnley keeper only strengthens our hand with Newcastle as it lessens our need for a HG right-back.
