I’m hesitant to bang on given I’m confused with the volume of scum articles (I may be in the middle of a stroke!) but if he scored 20 last season, and has 70 career goals, then that makes around 50 goals in 200 matches before last season - ok, more than me, but not great
I dont know if those stats are right, I'll take your word for it but 1 in 4 from a wide position for an unfavoured side punching well above their weight is solid numbers. Genuinely thought he was a few years older than 25 too. Sadly hes the solid, safe bet signing they need. Funny that they've paid through the nose for it but it's money they've got. He's not going to be another hojlund or zirkzee.

I'll ask again, where are the rags getting their money from for these new signings? Also is the Premier League looking closely at these financial dealings?
Just read a report about Newcastle being hamstrung with the PSR rules - yet the rags can conjure up money to pay huge sums for new players even though scruffy Jim said they were broke and their bank account was empty. Something really fishy going on and I am amazed that other clubs are not asking questions.

But could be another Dailly Blind or Memphis Depay or Mason Mount or Danny de Beek.
I could say more, but you get the general idea…..

What an absolute fuckin sellout.

At the peak of his career, had the chance to play in the Champions League with spurs but goes to these fuckin clowns.

Guess both utd and him are suited for eachother.
No ambition and money talks.

Please please don't let me read he's another born utd fan who has dreamt of playing for them.

FFS.

At least that's weakened Brentford for when we play them next. All silver linings an all that.

But what a fuckin nobhead.
Yet another mercenary to add to their very impressive HUGE list.

They probably are but it will be getting ignored.
Weird how the two red plastic clubs are suddenly spending money like there's no tomorrow and the media aren't questioning it one bit.
Absolutely stinks.

Could also be that they’re getting a £142 million player for the rock bottom bargain deal of the century price of only £71 million.

£70m for a player a top side would consider as a utility option. Bet you could have got mbuemo for half that last year.

Sadly, I do think hes the type of player they actually need and despite the fee will prove to be a good signing. A reliable, consistent player to elevate them from looking over their shoulder at the bottom 3, to the safety of midtable mediocrity.
Just look at all the clubs the red mardarses beat to sign him..........

Last year was an anomaly of a season, he has been in the pl for four years now and only scored 10 plus goals one time, its more likely that he goes back to his average of 8 or 9 a season than it is he does that again.

Named after Brian Greenhoff, apparently

Said it for years, the most insecure club in the land.
Their need for attention is frightening
\you can say the way the article is written how attention starved they are , they had to get a bit in about all the other clubs that wanted him (all 1 of them) could offer cl football but he still wanted the rags so its such a coup they got him, ignoring the fact that they increased his wages by 500% because why ruin the narrative, also the usual tripe about a player coming in to the peak of his powers rather than the idea that he had one good unexpected season.

Yeah, but he actually received coaching at Brentford and the team had a plan of how to approach matches.

Lets see how he gets on at a place where "kick and run" appears to be the main tactic.

"I remember watching the mighty red devils growing up as a boy in a squalid flat. We'd cry ourselves to sleep every night after watching them play. Fitful, restless nights, it was hard. Often my parents would see me thrashing around in my sleep, dreaming that I was scoring the winning goal in the Europa League final group sages second qualifying round in Azerbaijan, I'd say in my sleep "this is manshes united..." over and over."

"One day, my birthday, I received a signed Macheda shirt. We cried and cried for hours. We had rats, we named the biggest one Bruno and over time I taught him tricks. His favorite one was to fall down theatrically when nobody was around him."

'But my parents always told me to keep dreaming, and one day I will have to chance to turn down champions league football to play instead for Manchester United, paid hundreds of thousands a week regardless of how you play, have every nervous touch booed. That is when you know you have made it. When united come knocking you just say yes. Yes to no more trying. Yes to failure. Yes to Gucci, Lamborghini and Alderley Edge. How could I turn them down?"

By Simon Stoned

To be honest the most surprising thing about that BBC article is that Simon Stone didn't write it
If you scroll down you will see he wrote the second bit.

His writing reaches such smotional depth when he writes about them that he needs someone else to start him off so he can compose himself.
