Sheffield Wednesday on the brink… | Enter administration (p30)

I feel for you, mate. I truly do. The whole situation is nothing more or less than a piss-take.
Thanks m8

It's pretty exhausting at the minute, and as always you just know it will get worse before (if it does) get any better.

For me the worst thing is the silence from the club, nobody has a clue what is going on.

One bellend does fook i simply dont get his thinking ..........does he believe tha hes gonna get more money for a team that is on the route to league 1

The summer has been an absolute sh*tstorm, to the point so much has happened I couldn't be bothered to update on here as I have in the past on EFL matters.

May wages not fully paid
June wages not paid to staff/1st team
HMRC bill for June not paid
Manager expected to be announced as new Leicester City boss later this week
All coaches are out of contract
No Pre-season friendlies scheduled
No new Kit expected
North Stand needs work before season start otherwise a safety certificate will not be issued
Season Ticket money from early bird sales (I bought mine in January for the cheapest price) was most likely used before last season ended to prop up the finances
Any player who has not received May/June wages can give the club notice of contract termination, if the club doesn't pay what they owed within 15 days they can leave for free. I understand several players have exercised that right (good for them)
Work to upgrade the training ground has ceased due to money.
We are under an embargo for failing 2 EFL rules, this would be removed if outstanding debts are settled by Chancer or a new owner
We have a 3 window transfer window ban, and can only sign freebies or loans that do not involve a fee (including agents) with a maximum wage of £7k a week.
Chancer has turned down 2 bids for the club, he originally wanted £300 million (what a joke). The club is worth £40-50m at most, especially as the club doesn't own the stadium, Chancer does after he sold it to himself to navigate PSR rules in 2017/18 (he fucked that up so we got a 12 point deduction, reduced to 6 anyway which ultimately relegated us in 20/21 season)

Everyday there are more stories coming out of the club, football seems a million miles away at the minute, I'm more concerned if we actually start the season. It has Bury vibes about it.

Bottom line is we're royally up sh*t creek without a paddle.

If we do start the season I could see a team made up of U21's and journeymen players that nobody wants, and even they won't appear until after September 1st.
Can only hope you get rid of your owner, can reclaim your ground and get out of this mess. Good luck

I think he does believe that, like a gambler at a casino always a chance of getting your loses back in the next game (there isn't)

How though ????
Does he think that in its present state that somehow they are gonna reach the promised land and stay there ??????

As someone mentioned earlier in the topic, there's a similar situation with Morecambe FC going on at the moment. There's just been an article about it posted on the BBC website if anyone wants a read

Tragically, the media outlets you've quoted are not arsed about any team outside the Premier League...

How the mind of a basket case works is any ones guess m8

When he leaves (forced or sale) you just know he'll have left the taps running and flood the place.

Don't the EFL need proof pretty soon that your club is capable of completing the season?

I would think so m8

But the silence from all parties is concerning
It's quite possible there are discussions taking place between SWFC and the EFL behind the scenes.
The EFL know they'll be hammered for "not doing anything" if Wednesday fold so I suspect they'll be taking an interest if only to save face.
And if SWFC are refusing to discuss the situation then the EFL have the perfect excuse.

I've got a friend who's a Reading fan who said his club has been fucked by an owner over the past 8 years too. The 'fit and proper persons' test needs to be looked at, as well as some sort of rules that can force a sale when an owner repeatedly fails to pay wages.

Dai Yongge was eventually removed/forced to sell as he had a criminal conviction back in China, the problem with the Fit & Proper person test is like at Reading, Chancer had the funds to run the club when he came along, his issue was he had no idea how to run a club, and has never listened to anybody that does.

Similar to the PL the rules are voted on by the clubs (owners) so chance of change can also be blocked, I agree with you though if a club fails to pay/late with wages for a certain number of months then the EFL should step in and look to take control/force to sell.

We could easily have ended up in the same boat, with Thaksin Shinawatra, who had his assets frozen and was unable to pay for the players he'd already purchased, never mind the wages. We were extremely lucky that we found a buyer quickly, who turned out to be the best thing that's ever happened to the club. In another universe, Sheikh Mansour buys Everton and we go down with a mountain of debt after a huge points deduction.

It's the roll of the dice isn't it.

Look at Birmingham City under Carson Yeung they were going to be the next big thing, but before you know it he's in jail for money laundering and the club is in chaos.

Aston Villa under Tony Xia too, he was bringing cases of cash over to keep the lights on, legend has it they were hours from going bust. That Championship Play Off final Vs Derby was sh*t or bust for whoever lost.

So how was he forced to sell his asset? Did he have to accept any offer deemed reasonable by the EFL or were sanctions threatened against the club which might reduce the value of his asset even further?
