Have to be honest, I haven't paid much heed to the "sails" up to now on any of the videos. My bad, as the hip young people would say. But I paid a bit more attention on the video posted today by @cpoverview
5:16 into the video. My question is; what are they supposed to add to the overall look of the hotel? To me, they just look like they don't belong there.
Is the entire front of the hotel going to be blanketed with them? If not, and your privacy suggestion is true, I can't see the point of only part of the frontage being done.Aren't they primarily designed to provide extra privacy for the hotel room residents?
Me neither but that prime purpose was mentioned on one of the drone videos. Is the entire front of the hotel going to be blanketed with them? If not, and your privacy suggestion is true, I can't see the point of only part of the frontage being done.
I'm not saying it's not the case; I honestly don't know.

not very Arabic are they? What's wrong with cheap curtains? :-/

It is a design feature, at the end of the day. Gordyola has already highlighted what they claim to add. The other part of this is, a hotel and office of this size don't necessarily sail through (why thank you) planning wothiut scrutiny, so having a distinctive look makes their process a bit easier. My question is; what are they supposed to add to the overall look of the hotel? That's not in the slightest theit prome purpose. An easy tag to add in, but yeah no chance that was in anybway a driving thought.Me neither but that prime purpose was mentioned on one of the drone videos.
I defer to your expertise if not your spellchecker. That's not in the slightest theit prome purpose. An easy tag to add in, but yeah no chance that was in anybway a driving thought.
Fins will cover the entire facade of the hotel and commercial building images from the Design Statement there has been some changes as to the facade material , iirc but this confirms locationIs the entire front of the hotel going to be blanketed with them? Eventually, you have to throw those curtains wide. What's wrong with cheap curtains? :-/
When I saw those fins I immediately thought they speak of the nautical heritage of Manchesters waterways and I appreciate how they are distributed following a principle set by an algorithmic design strategy. ;-)
In all seriousness they give a nice feature to what would otherwise be a bland and boxy design so fair play.
