Juve, Leverkusen and whoever else is interested in him will never pay him 350k a week that he's on at Chelsea. If he's interested in any of those teams he's going to have to take a pay cut. A Sterling on much reduced wages is probably a more interesting transfer for a club than Sterling on 350k a week.

There can't be many examples where a modern day footballer moves for less money

I mean it basically comes down to this for Sterling, take a pay cut and continue your career vs sitting in the stands for 2 more years with 0 games.

100%. Very similar to Rashford and Grealish in that respect

Dodgy cheats Chelsea! 48m for a no one Mahres went for 25m Laporte less these were trophies titles winners!

This is all Jorge Mendes' doing. Clubs are falling over themselves to get in his good graces so they can have a chance at the insane talent pipeline he has somehow been allowed to control.

Players who won’t take a pay cut and thus stay put and not get minutes do my head in. Apart from the fact that their life is supposed to be about playing football, forgive me if I have little sympathy for a player who has to struggle by on £150,000 per week instead of £250,000.
I reckon I could just about manage on £7.8m pa.

I just can't see any reason why a player would take a huge pay cut to leave a club, specially one who is over the hill anyway.

The reason is to play games not just train. KDB has taken a pay cut because he wants to play.

That's KDB, Raheem has been a busted flush for years.

Imagine signing a contract and just because a company that signed you wants rid you have to take the pay cut? It's never going to be a thing in reality.

I suggest golf for him until the chavs pay his contract out and some other chump of a club take a punt on him.

KDB was out of contract
Hardly the point when responding to ‘why should they take a pay cut?’ as I was.
Interestingly City did not give KdB the choice, there was a hint he would have taken a cut to stay with City.
