For the record, don't get me wrong I'd absolutely love them to sign a right back. But I don't want them adding players to the squad who aren't going to represent the sort of quality we've bought in Ait Nour, Reijnders, and Marmoush. If that means having to wait until next summer then I trust Pep can get much more out of Lewis and Nunes. The reality is they both played in an incredibly unstable team and unstable defence last season. If the whole team's performances improve, then I'd expect Lewis and Nunes's performances to improve too.

Don't see Rico as an RB at our level...

Left to me I would welcome offers for:
Akanji
McAtee
Grealish (even though I love him as a person)
Stones (sob)
Ake
Lewis (sob)
Gundo
Kova
If it allows us to bring in a quality fb to replace Walker and whatever else is thought we need. If those on the list went I think we would also need a CB.

Sad reality is that there are even more missing from this list to add. Echeverri, Phillips, Ortega, Wilson Esbrand, Kabore, Nypan...major squad overhaul this summer and Viana needs to ensure we're tying down players who have contracts running down in 2027 (Foden, Rodri and Dias in particular)

No real need for Ake, Stones Lewis to be on there, only really need the HG space Grealish would create this summer.
Akanji, Gundogan, Ortega, Grealish, McAtee, possibly Kovacic and loan Echeverri maybe,works for me.
Gives us room for a right back either HG or NHG.

Unfortunately its not left to you, or me

Its not so easy to shift players on big wages anymore as everyone has an eye on PSR, even the Saudis dont like taking risks in injury

Even if we get offers, cant see Pep letting some of those go

I'd keep Stones from your list, let him go for free at the end of the season. I also have faith in Rico, so id keep him
 
The front 3 look strong
Marmoush Haaland Cherki with Savinho and Doku as back up. There'll get plenty of games.

Midfield 3 pretty good

Rodri, Reinjders, Foden with Bernardo, González as backup.

So who are unlikely to get too much game time? Bobb, Etcheverri, Kovacic, Gundogan

I am not bothered about winning the PL. There is nothing up with my memory, as I clearly recall the numerous occasions when we were done over by opposition on one transition, one shot, one goal with not a defender in sight.

If that continues to happen, and it did in the CWC then we won't be winning the PL or any trophies this coming season.

Rico Lewis, Nico O'reilly and I believe Bobb too all dont need to be registered this season so you can remove all those names from the count.

The restrictive factor then becomes the 17 free spots not the 25 man list of which we've currently got 19 so theres only 2 non-homegrown players we currently need to ship out to fit them all into the squad lists.

Reis going out on loan seems an obvious one to me, I'd like to see us include a recall option for January just in case so then if he goes on loan, it's just 1 more which I suspect as things stand, if the squad remains as is, will have to be a midfielder. However, if we also get rid of grealish, we open a homegrown spot which we can fill in any position and then that would allow flexibility in who we ship out.

How do we acc change this ?

Looking at how we play. We play at the slowest pace in the league. We hold onto the ball and try push teams into defending their own box. Basically forcing to play one way. Counter.

Do we have to have a better backline ? Khusonov x Gvardiol will help
Do we have to play faster and take more chances ? Playing Bernardo x Gundo definitely wont help

With No Walker to bail us out, what are our options ?

Yes he is when the team has Rodri & a sting centre half pairing. Start of last season Rico was our best player, we lost our whole spine & he looked lacking & he was. He’s there to play in the small spaces which he does perfectly but when we struggle to maintain possession as a team he’s a risk. Nunes is a risk in possession but has great pace & physicality.
