UEFA Women's Euros | England win final on penalties!

City pay decent wages though don't they? What are our wages like compared to other clubs/leagues?

This article from 3 years ago reckons, on average, City pay the women £75k per year. Not to be sniffed at, and a good amount compared to many in the WSL, but it's a short career. I don't know what other countries pay in comparison, but if you're on that much with 1 year left on a contract and someone from a big European club offers double, it'd be daft to say no.

BBC News - How much do women footballers get paid?

Went into my daughter to see what she wanted for breakfast this morning. As soon as I opened her bedroom door she screamed "CHLOE KELLY!!!" before I could say anything.

This is what I'm subjected to 24/7 so you can forgive me getting annoyed when everything turns into the Chloe Kelly Show.

But on reflection, anyone that can get my kid that excited about football deserves my respect!
It's an upgrade on what I've been sitting through the last few weeks - the Ella Toone show! Jeez!

They probably do and more than likely the other WSL teams. It was only a few years ago though, some professional footballers (women) were being paid not much more than £20k per year and many had to hold down jobs to make ends meet. That was when quite a few voices were heard for an increase in women’s pay with many jumping on the bandwagon for equal pay which wasn’t what was being asked. What was being asked for was a fair salary that someone could live on so they could live and train like an athlete and not have to do this in an evening after work.

Imagine a world where each team brings its own sponsorships, wage structures and fixture lists?

Wages grow when coffers fill, we should be learning lessons from the WNBA in the USA where it's failing because it can't sustain itself. Allow women's football to succeed or fail on its own merits.

Or spread money across from the men’s game to all forms of football. All leagues, including lower, youth clubs, women’s and girls. There’s enough money in the Premier League for all.

Too much like communism for me, that should come as no surprise to anyone. Business isn't a hobby.

I am totally lost. All I was pointing out was the fact that Chloe Kelly said that she was proud to be English and I was so pleased to hear that because you don’t often hear it and she obviously is. That is all I was saying.
The first two players I saw interviewed after the game said they were proud to be in English. How refreshing.

Aren't the womens teams now basically under the same roof as the mens? Presumably their version of the Premier League's members needs to start negotating hard for a big TV deal. That's what turbocharged the men's game

The league is run by a separate company, the WPLL. They just signed a five year deal with sky for £85m plus production costs taking the overall package to over £100m

About a tenth of the EFL deal then? Still a way to go, but a decent start.

The final was the most watched TV moment of the year. If they can attract consistent TV figures then the next 10 years could be boom time in the women's game.

The viewing figures are pretty decent i believe and it sounds as though Sky are going big on the production next season. Most fixtures will be played on a sunday lunchtime (annoyingly at 12 noon. Not sure what was wrong with the 2pm slot) And then there will be an around the grounds type show in a similar format to soccer Saturday.

Sunday night fixtures have gone and they are trying out a new Friday night slot too.

Just a guess, but the 2 o'clock spot might be missing as there will be more PL games on Sky at that time

" Sky going big on the production " - does that mean that Mai Fyfield will be involved in ensuring that certain clubs receive more favourable treatments than others ?

Maybe see the dippers women suddenly getting the usual love-in and hype fest that the ragettes enjoy under the BBC .

If her involvement with the PL is anything to go by, corruption and bias will be the nature of Sky's interest.
