Because he can read Pope’s chinamen?

If that term is acceptable anymore…

Don't get many Chinamen, feel India could have played Kuldeep instead of these awful medium pacers they have rotated around Bumrah and Siraj.

Remember Brad Hogg being a useful bowler for the Aussies but was unfortunate to be in the same era as Warne.

Well he did tbf ... they got their big moments against absolute filth lobbed up at 37mph.
They got 80 runs against top bowlers and nowhere it’s mentioned to mandatorily draw of last hour comes.

That prick Stokes wouldn’t have taken draw if 2 eng players were batting

They deserved 100 for their work for playing out 2 sessions and taking match to draw.

Stokes can’t dictate stuff

We have Lintott in county cricket, but think he only does 20/20

Hogg was a one day specialist. He was never much use in test cricket.

If anyone was unlucky back then, it was Stuart MacGill. He would have taken 400 wickets if he’d been born anywhere else.

Top bowlers is stretching it a bit. I'd go with recognised myself. And yes it is not mandatory it's just kind of the done thing.

But maybe, as per your initial deleted reply, the umpires should be able to intervene and say, "so I take it you are declaring then"?

No way of knowing but my guess would be he would have told them 10 overs earlier to get a shift on when they were both in the seventies and the bowling side were already going through the motions. As for prick ....

They deserved better than the memory of Harry Brook lobbing up some freebies that's for sure.

I mean he just reacted like any other captain would surely? Mind you I could see Gill getting so incensed he'd signal for Bumrah to loosen up for another stint, even if it ruled him out of the last test.

Swansea was a lovely place to see cricket, saw Lancs there a couple of times.
Posted before that Frank Hayes once put Malcolm Nash for 32 in an over at Swansea, when Nash came up the steps afterwards he was muttering "Never bloody again!"
Its a lovely ground yards away from a beach. Got a lot of records that ground, not just Sobers one. Clive Lloyd got a double ton in record time. Pretty sure Joel Garner got something there too. And Tony Lewis of off the eyebrows fame, presented test matches for the bbc in the day. Top shagger as well

Wow.

I went there when I was very young for a Sunday league 40 over match. Greenidge and Richards opened the innings for Hampshire but didn't make huge scores. Andy Roberts came in late and was a danger to everyone with a fast 49. At least one was reported to have gone through a gate into the sea.

Squad for Thursday

Ben Stokes (c), Jofra Archer, Gus Atkinson, Jacob Bethell, Harry Brook, Brydon Carse, Zak Crawley, Liam Dawson, Ben Duckett, Jamie Overton, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Jamie Smith, Josh Tongue, Chris Woakes.

I don’t really understand why Overton keeps getting called up. Might as well pick Sam Curran and I don’t particularly like the bloke!

No idea why the selectors continue to rate Jamie Overton. His brother is better and there’s many other superior bowlers playing in county cricket.

Lets be honest with ourselves.. England aren't exactly City either.. they're Spursy!

I might have to amend that..

England aren't exactly City either.. they're Arsenal..

I mean you have to try really hard for anyone to feel for England there..

Infact you could start rooting for them to declare with 7-8 overs left and then just eat popcorn while they start pounding Crawley and Duckett or whoever England decided to send out.

Wanting to take bat and ball home once they couldn't win after fully expecting to for a few days.

Short change the crowd too, many wanting to see a couple of text hundreds.
