North Stand Construction Discussion

Another excellent video posted today by @cpoverview. Many thanks for your updates, both you and @ssskies. They're a godsend for us blues in exile.

Just to go over and old bugbear of mine that I've mentioned several times (!); the corners of the roof at the South Stand end of the ground. You get an excellent view of one of them in CP's video today, shot from roughly roof level. I think it's been covered in the past, the reason why they were done that way. But I'll never be convinced that they are works of art (I'm sure some of our budding architects will be on to say how wrong I am; as the Germans would say, "c'est la vie").....

Don’t worry, I don’t think a single person exists who thinks they look good…! :)

I think the north stand corners not being touched shows that the club weren’t happy with them.

The reason being is I think every manager at the swamp looks up at the GPC stand and is intimidated by their most successful managers name right in front of them when they are in the dugout. They know they will not be there that long, they know they will never be as sucessful, they know it reminds the fans of their glory days and intimidates them into being nervous wrecks. Give Pep a statue by all means, leave his name in lights outside the ground, but don't name a stand after our most successful manager, to act as a reminder to future managers who and what they are following.

I think they learned a lesson after the south stand extension, but it is what it is, for the foreseeable.

Digital before then when it was the Scoreboard End was a guy climbing up a ladder into the box at half time and manually putting up the scores. Unless you had a programme you didn't know which games referred to which scores.

So true....." B are losing at home 0-4 "..... hoping it was the rags cos it was never in alphabetical order !
