The amount of rag fans I've met over the years who lived in places like London and had plenty of perfectly good football clubs to choose from much closer to home. When questioned why they support Manchesniteh.......... I would often get the same response: "because they're the best team in England"

This was back in the mid 90s and I would ask them: "what are you going to do when they're no longer the best team in England?"

"Support some other team I suppose" would be their nonchalant reply.

Back on track: I've been loving the way the media are spinning the arrival of the one-man cavalry from Brentford this summer. I seriously don't think United will end up in the top half of the table. Maybe just in the top half. Most definitely not top four. Not when you look at the way we, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea have all strengthened quite seriously. And useful teams like Brighton, Villa and Newcastle behind that group.
