The popularity of that competition is a complete mystery to me. A T10 competition would be better (and that'd be dreadful as well).

Not sure it’s that popular. There are loads of freebies handed out.

The main positive is that it’s on terrestrial TV and gives kids more exposure to cricket.

I read somewhere a while back that the ECB don’t have to pay a licence fee for the 100, whereas they do for 20/20 tournaments, hence they want it to succeed.

Yeap, it’s shite. I know quite a lot of cricket fans and none of them like it. If it’s getting crowds then obviously it will continue. Shame they’ve not put the investment into T20 and pushed that as much. Instead they’re just killing county cricket.

I'm assuming that these investors must think it's popular. If not, would they be pumping in £500m into the game?

As for the licence fee; being played in just about every cricketing nation, does the ICC actually "own" the T20 format, and that countries who wish to stage a domestic T20 competition have to pay for the privilege? Whereas I'm pretty sure that the Hundred is only played in England and Wales, and is therefore "owned" by the ECB?

Looking for a cricket book on a very particular subject. Anyone know a memoir either by a player or a cricket writer describing life on tour Down Under or in India? Or South Africa. Not so much for what happened on the field of play but about life away from it - the local people, the hotels, food, local "entertainments", etc. Preferably from a time when tours lasted a long time and conditions were a bit rougher before teams got accustomed to luxury travel. Alternatively I'd fancy an account of a season of English county cricket in its heyday (FOC era) or of overseas players' experiences in the Lancashire leagues. Ta.
