PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

I took it he’d been given a better line from his media team than what he gave in the other clip the other day where he started down the “we have no idea” route.

Unless that’s their motto.

The Premier League
We Have No Idea
The Premier League's motto:

"Nescimus Omnino":-)

One can only hope given what’s at stake for both parties.
I don’t believe the PL want to throw the book at us as they will be going up against some v powerful people and politically motivated arguments. At the same time they cannot be seen to completely lose face .
The most sensible outcome will be asome financial settlement and a slap on the wrist for us.
Like all of us here I would obviously want to see us completely exonerated but have a feeling it won’t quite go that way given how long it has taken for any pronouncements to be made.
It makes no difference what the premier league want at this stage. The independent panel will decide what, if any, rules we have broken

Interesting, is it me or is there a lot more airtime given to the "What if city win?" scenario than when this topic is normally debated? Usually the focus seems to be on what will the punishment be?
It's not just you, there has been a subtle shift, it's no longer taken as read we're for the chop, it's more double edged sword now.

We're spending big, we're rolling in Puma cash, we've got Harland for 9 years, we're expanding the stadium and Masters "the last cab on the rank"? He's mumbling and sweating.

Pacqueta cleared of match fixing

Another shit load of money spent on nothing by the powers that be
Couple of things if interest on this.
He has been cleared of being deliberately booked but found guilty of not answering questions I.e. failing to cooperate that we have been charged with.

The headline from talksport is that he has been cleared.
Will be interesting if we get cleared of the financial stuff and guilty on the non cooperation if the messaging is the same or if it's city found guilty of 39 PSR breaches.

Financial punishment didn't sound sensible or acceptable to Khaldoon.

The way I see it the overwhelming likelihood given how protracted and expensive this process has been is that we are going to get found guilty of something although I would expect not of the more severe charges.
The PL are under massive pressure to make something stick and there will be some sort of settlement. Their own survival depends on it.
At the end of the day common sense will hopefully prevail.
And were determined to show that the PL & it’s red cartel are bent.

Understood, but I think if we had been found innocent of everything the announcement would have been made soon. The fact it is taking so long may be down to deciding what sanctions the PL are likely apply and that’s when negotiations between the legal teams for a settlement will start from. I suspect that’s the reason for the delay in announcing a final outcome.

1) Length of time and cost doesn't imply guilt.

2) The verdict is not made by PL (obv.), therefore they can't make anything 'stick'.

3) PL and 'common sense' ???

Whatever the outcome - one part (or possibly both in the event of a draw) are gonna be unhappy and will have their legal teams crawl over every line of text - so personally I don’t think the length of time taken really gives any indication of the outcome. The panel just want it to be precise and watertight because it will get scrutinised and challenged.

Nope. This hearing is solely to determine whether we are guilty or not.
Nothing whatsoever to do with sanctions.

No. This is just guilty of charges or not. Sanctions if needed, is a separate meeting according to PL rules.

Interesting that in the Paqueta case the FA have stated they are waiting for the written reasons from the regulatory board before commenting. Also interesting that the announcement relates only to charges being proven or not proven and the sanctions hearing will be held as soon as possible.

@slbsn - In your view Is there a scenario that the independent review panel will announce the outcome of our charges without first issuing a document to both parties?

This panel is only considering guilt or otherwise. Sanctions will be considered, if needed, sometime later

This process is taking ages because there are more than 120 alleged breaches to review, 12 weeks of tribunal deliberations to consider and loads of documents to make reference to. Some poor sods will have to write this all up into a robust and credible decision document. The final decision document may be more than 500 pages long. The Premier League could have avoided this by having a more targeted approach to which alleged breaches they wanted to focus on, but instead, possibly because of pressure from key stakeholders, they decided to throw everything at City in the hope something stuck. The wait goes on and on and on etc etc and the various websites that generate clicks from published nonsense, lies and wild speculation will continue to make a lot of money. Boo hiss to pantomime villain Ricky Disasters etc.

I find this quote from Masters interesting, although I may be grasping a straw or 2 thinking that an announcement is imminent

"You can ask, but our rules are very clear," Masters explained. "It’s a confidential process so I really can’t give any information out on timing or anything like that.“

He’s no longer saying he doesn’t know, but that it’s confidential……

Probably reading waaaayyyy to much into it
Masters changed his position from the interview the day before where he claimed he didn't know the outcome. Every word will have been coached and rehearsed by his Comms team. He fucked up in the earlier interview where he looked rattled. The most stupid thing he said was: "The PL rules could not be more clear." Given the number of times they have had to re-write their unlawful rules it was an answer worthy of Chemical Ali at his peak during the Gulf War.
