It's only been achieved (or bettered) 9 times in test cricket. England chased down 378 against this opposition at Edgbaston, 3 years ago.

Can't see it happening again, though.

It’s a bit of a misleading stat though. Not to say it’s not very difficult but England made 369/6 to draw in 2007 and India made 429 to draw in 1979 and South Africa made 423 to draw in 1947.
Sri Lanka made 219/2 to win last year (if England get to 219/2 tomorrow they might well go on and win)

There have been run chases at the oval which have gone into the 300’s and failed, the Indians nearly chased down 400 in the late 70’s so there is some hope albeit not a outcome I’d be betting on.
