The replayed game was Franny's first game - when Rocky Rocastle did that turn and set up that goal (Carl Griffiths?)If it’s the same game (circa 1998 - 2001) we ended up turning round and ten pin bowling in Stockport or Didsbury. Yes total deflating feeling when a match got cancelled.
Ipswich was worst though the Franny Lee takeover year as we were 2-0 up and desperate, at the time, for the points.
Yes he did have a pad in Spain and nice to hear that you met up with an old Kippax Street legend.I used to buy the City fanzines in years gone by and seen his name crop up here and there, know he was a contender for the 'fan on board' thing going on at the time.
Of all the places to actually meet him was on the lawns of the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi.
Not long after the Sheikh took over we had a friendly against the UAE national team, think it was 2009.
About 300 of us went and a bit of a garden party was organised where players and staff joined in to meet the fans.
Met Mark there and was great company for the few hours in the beautiful surroundings.
Remember him having some stories of his time watching City, think he was a bit of lad in his younger days. Think he said he was either living in Spain or had a place there.
One of those people you meet in life who sticks in your mind in a good way.
R.I.P Mark.
Old Kippax ladOld school, well known blue Mark Bittner…
Mark passed away on Monday 28th. His son Karl posted on Facebook. He’d had two big heart attacks. Mark used to own The Wheatsheaf in Onneley, a regular stop off for Blues back in the day.
RIP Mark. K10 PAX
Yes it was. Great day, really felt like the start of a new era.The replayed game was Franny's first game - when Rocky Rocastle did that turn and set up that goal (Carl Griffiths?)
That's really sad, and as somebody who lost both my parents to dementia, I'm guessing that Mark's assets were used to pay for his treatment and care.Seems Mark had financial difficulties at the end.
