It's Quiet the £250m return

Only if the conditions suit us, as Coatigan said. If they buy the player for 35m and develop him into a cracking player over 2-3 years, then bying him back for 50m may make sense. If he isn't worth, say, 70m in the market in 2-3 years, then he might not be good enough for City anyway.

Echeverri isn't in a position to dictate the conditions of the loan. We do what makes sense to both us and the player, not just the player.
For what it's worth (wider point rather than to you) don't think anyone is really suggesting Echeverri is dictating anything.

You can't calculate the odds without including the level of talent. How big of a talent Echeverri is is anyone's guess. If he really is a top, top talent, chances are he will play for us in 1-2 seasons. Personally, I rate him and think he will play for us, unless both Cherki and Foden are outstanding. Then it might be difficult to find a place for him. But it depends on the talent ultimately. If he shows his ceiling is higher than theirs, then he returns and starts.
Agree to a point, but if put of hundreds of loaned out players only one has broken through to the first team, I can safely say the odds are against him not necessarily 100 to 1 or as rigorous as that, but the likelihood isn't great.

Fwiw I think if we had loaned Foden out as many had suggested, he wouldn't be in our first team now.

only option to buy should be 50m and we have buy back option for the same amount and a sell on!

Man City are in control of the player don’t matter how much his people are pushing for Roma we will do a deal for a loan that we are happy with!

Also pep be gone in two seasons, whoever the new manager going to be maybe he should be able to asses all the players. The new manager might want to play more attacking..
We have to operate within the rules and within what is practical hence clubs like Roma can push, and reportedly are pushing on Echeverri.

Some City fans think that City are always in control. I don't think we are here. We bought many players in Jan and June and now we are have to make some unpopular choices, and it will probably go to the wire as City look to minimise damage.

Yes I know this season, but I'm asking about if he stays in the PL will he qualify when he's 21 for the homegrown list as he was 18 in January.
Ah sorry - I didn’t read it that way. I don’t think so because of the year he spent back on loan in Argentina means that he will not spend 36 months or three seasons in England & wales before turning 21 (or season on which he turns 21). However the regulations are not very clear and if you ask AI it couches it in terms of general & likely

  • To be considered homegrown in England, a player needs to have been registered with an English or Welsh club for at least three seasons before their 21st birthday.
  • Time spent on loan abroad will generally not count towards the period of registration required to gain homegrown status for a specific club.
  • Loan periods to other clubs within the same country can count towards national homegrown status, but not club-specific status.
Therefore, while a player may be registered with an English or Welsh club while on loan abroad, that time spent playing in another country will likely not count towards fulfilling the criteria for becoming a homegrown player under the English Premier League or similar FA rules.

We look like we are now focusing on getting a few players out the door (McAtee, Grealish and some loans)

For me the club comes first regardless of who the player is and what they have achieved - they have also been paid extremely well for what they have done and have generational wealth the average person can only dream of.

The club did the right thing letting KDB and Waker go.

With Stones and Grealish in particular they should have been told if you stay unless you can prove your fitness (stones) then your contract will not be renewed and you need to find yourself another club...if that means he sits on the sideline for a year so be it

With Grealish he needs to be told that he is going to again get limited minutes. A professional sports person should not want that and he should be on the phone to his agent making sure a club is found or him. If its about money then that shows what kind of person he is...again he has generational wealth and he will retire in his early 30's and the money he has will set up generations of his family.....Maybe he needs a loan deal with obligation to buy (not option to buy).

Ake is the same boat as Stones for me - both have been fantastic players for us but their time is over.

I still think we need a fullback and a right sided centre half....If we had a pacey 1v1 defender on that side of the pitch it may negate the need for a quality defensive mined fullback who can attack as well....but Dias will get exposed with Nunes or Rico next to him. ...so one or the other needs to be addressed.

Pull a Brokelona..

Roma have an option to buy for 100 billion and it needs to be paid in 1 payment!

I'm tired of being taken as a mark for exploitation by all these other clubs who want our gems but don't want our older players putting us in the pickle we're in.

Why would they want them if we don't?

Of course we in control the lad signed a contract and if we want him to stay he will stay! But we know city always do what’s best for the player! Roma fine with no buy option! Because what is the actual point in buying a young player with so much potential then loan him straight away with them having an option to buy him for €35m?

Yeah we're gonna have to end contracts on mutual consent for a lot of players we want to move but finding no buyers.

Gotta keep the gems around.. don't make mistakes like Perrone and Palmer!
Ending a contract by mutual consent isn't a really thing though, it's very rare because it would be very expensive. Even then players might prefer to stay. Even if it could happen with say Gundogan it's very unlikey to happen with 3 or 4 players.

The only player I could see this happening with is Phillips.

To end a player’s contract early, we essentially start from a position of having to pay up the total value of the time remaining on that contract.

We may be able to negotiate them down on that, but we’re in a weak negotiating position as there’s little upside for them in agreeing much of a reduction on the value we owe them - so the chances are we’d get a better deal by loaning them out, with the buying club paying even a moderate percentage of their wages.

So for Stones and Grealish, it would likely make more sense to loan them for the remainder of their contracts than to pay them off, even with the loaning Club paying 25% of their wages.

That’s why in reality you rarely see this kind of a deal happening.

Not who we are

It’s not how City operate

Doesn’t guarantee success

All fair enough, but I do hope next season we have one where we are the top spenders in the prem and really make moves in the market.

That marked part is not possible.
Basic FIFA rules make clear that a loan player is NOT registered for the mother club during a loan period!

You can find the reason here:

FIFA rules and regulations 2023 version:
https://digitalhub.fifa.com/m/40da0...atus-and-Transfer-of-Players-2023-edition.pdf

"ARTICLE 5 – REGISTRATION:
...
3. A player may only be registered with one club at a time."

That short sentence couldn't be any clearer IMO.

You say that at the same time as reports are emerging that Roma and City are negotiating a loan with an option and City right to buy. That's not ideal at all and City are only considering it because we need to sell players
