with Dias, Gvardiol, Ake, Stones, Khusanov all knocking about, do you think Akanji is first/second choice at CB (presuming Ait-Nouri and Nunes are both playing)?I don’t think he’ll be the stand out player. But if he gets a run of games at centre back, I think Manuel Akanji will change the minds of a few people who have been critical of him. He’s a very good centre half and not a right back.
Stones and Ake are rarely fit. Which makes Akanji second choice after Dias and Gvardiol. If Gvardiol is rotated with Ait Nouri it might give Akanji an opportunity to play at CB. Or If any one of Dias, Gvardiol or Ait Nouri is injured or needs a rest. I want to see Pep rotating to manage the squad. I think the squad fell apart last season from lack of rotation over the previous two seasons.with Dias, Gvardiol, Ake, Stones, Khusanov all knocking about, do you think Akanji is first/second choice at CB (presuming Ait-Nouri and Nunes are both playing)?
we'll have to see. I agree about the full back rotation, it needs to happen, which may see either Akanji playing some time at RB again, or Lewis. My personal feelings are that Akanji began to look ragged at times last season but i dont forget the great service he has given in previous seasons, i hope he refinds that form. can't see him being standout player of 25/26 though :)Stones and Ake are rarely fit. I did say ‘I don’t think he’ll be stand out player of 2025/25’ but I do think he’ll ‘change some of the more critical fans minds’, if he can get a run in the team.we'll have to see. If we fed him more he'd be a goal scoring machine.Interested to hear people’s thoughts on this.
With De Bruyne now gone (sad face) and other experienced heads sadly no longer the players they once were. The upcoming season looks to be very exciting with some new faces through the door.
Who do you think will be the main man for us this season and why?
My thoughts - Marmoush
He has the work rate, the versatility, and he has already shown flashes of top-class finishing since arriving. His pressing looks on point, and with more minutes and confidence, I believe he could become this season’s POTY. He seems to back himself and has already shown glimpses of what he can produce in big moments. I genuinely think he could become the player we turn to when it matters most.
