I love these appropriate user name repliesSomeone's on a fake nostalgia trip. Jam and custard pie. School dinner stuff.
Never mind Mancunian, if you didn't have it as a kid, you're probably not even a Lancastrian.
Dead easy to make at home, overpriced in shops.

I’ve got to say that at my school in Ramsbottom the Manchester tart seemed to be just jam and custard tart with a sprinkling of coconut. I never understood why a bit of coconut changed its name tbh and why the link to Manchester?Someone's on a fake nostalgia trip. Jam and custard pie. School dinner stuff.

I had my first one in Blackpool about 15 years ago, never heard of it until then.
This lad struggled to find one in Manchester so they aren't exactly common.
Pretty sure I had jam and custard pie in my Primary school for lunch dessert!!
They used to serve it in the canteen at BAE ChaddertonDefinitely. Proper school dinner in the days when every pudding had coconut flakes sprinkled all over it.
Another one for the FOC thread!
They do some cracking ones on Bury market
Even the butcher in the village I live in sells them, very nice they are tooIf only the lad on the video knew that at the time ;-)
