I think he was really upset by the fact he was left out of starting 11 of the champions league final and fa cup final despite scoring a hat trick in the fa cup semi final.

It’s a shame he left as he wa probably my favourite player to watch in the side at the time and he was genuinely world class.

Pep said that Rodri might play some minutes in August but that he would not be fully fit until the international break. That's at most 3 games. That's a very good outcome as we knew he had been missing from pre-season training, or at least that he was not training with the 1st team squad. We also knew that Kovacic was recovering from his operation on his achilles tendon.

Last season when Kovacic and Rodri were both out, we used Gundogan as a DM and it was a disaster. I think Pep will play Gonzalez there. Perhaps we will have a clue today? The opening games will be challenging but I was expecting that and will be at almost full strength after 3 games.
