The Labour Government

I'm glad you're so deperate to prove that you're "right". I'll put you in the pigeon hole on here of those who don't believe: inflation figures, unemployment figures, average earnings data etc. etc to try to prove themselves "right".

Yes, anyone can join but, as you no doubt deliberately chose to ignore, the public membership does not allow voting. I'm also sure that the likes of Edinburgh, Durham, Royal Holloway will be delighted to be regarded as second rate universities as the PSA approaches its' 75th anniversary. Nothing like manipulating the facts to fit your "truth".
If you can find a post where I’ve said that I refuse to believe inflation, unemployment and average earnings data, then I’d be very interested to read them. But you won’t be able to, as I’ve never made any such statement. As indeed you know full well.

Also, I believe your original point on the PSA related to an opinion poll conducted of the membership by a third party, so your point on voting rights is irrelevant. And I said that the membership appeared heavily biased to second rate universities, not exclusive to such institutions.

Stop manipulating things to fit your “truth”.

I know, but I actually do learn something whilst looking around for the actual facts. An hour ago I didn't even know the organisation existed.
Fair enough. There’s a vocal few on here that cherry pick stuff to show they’re “right”. When challenged, they simply throw insults around and the debate then dies.

As someone else said on another thread. “We seem to be at an impasse here”.

That’s the first realisation that these threads are pointless. ;-)

You're so right on every point. There, happy now?

Indeed. I haven’t debated in this forum for months as you don’t debate, you preach.

You haven’t been on here for months, yet you feel the need to pop back most days to tell people that it’s all futile, to tell people what you think of their behaviour and to tell people to be more like you.

But you’re not one to preach are you?

I’m not preaching anything. You can listen or not. I don’t care. I rid my life of energy sponges like yourself that want to anger and antagonise others.

You’re like an evangelist preacher on a street corner in town to me. You’re trying to shout your truth into the abyss.

There is no reasoning with them, just like with you. I learned not to get riled up and concentrated on chatting to folk in real life about real life issues and guess what?

They’re nothing like the discourse on here. Anonymity gives people like yourself the confidence to overreach and use nasty rhetoric.

I’d bet my life that you’re not like that in real life. You’d be unemployed and have zero friends.

Just to confirm then, so that I’ve got it right.

You don’t preach to people and you’ve rid your life of energy sponges like myself. And you don’t get riled up by bothering with people like me, or overreach.

But you dig out old posts of mine from weeks ago, that don’t concern or relate to you, and put them on here to highlight my poor behaviour. Because you’re not interested, and don’t involve yourself in it.

Is that broadly correct?

No. I bookmarked it. It took seconds to post today to show what you are really like.

Still desperately trying to show you are “right” though.

Or just abstain from voting.

Labour and Conservatives have shown for generation after generation that they cannot govern this country properly. They are both utterly shite!

How they get such a high percentage of the overall vote is astonishing, but that they are both outvoted by abstainers tells you all you need to know about the faith the people of this country have in the political parties.

I abstained from voting in the last GE, myself. I nearly voted for the Social Democratic Party as they had by far the best manifesto, but in the end I thought ‘what’s the point, I’ll be one of just a few thousand around mainly the North West of England where this party ran for votes to bother with them?’.

But this country needs to get that pencil right the fuck away from any Labour or Conservative box on their ballot papers. I think voting for either of these parties after what they’ve shown going back decades and decades is utter madness!
Whilst I agree with your assessment here, I also believe in the old adage that you get the quality of politician you deserve, and before we start throwing rotten fruit at our hapless leaders, we should take a long hard look in the mirror and consider the types of behaviour we consistently reward from our politicians.

Will we vote for the honest politician who understands the issues and says it like it is, including cold hard facts regarding the state of the country's finances and the tough, sometimes painful steps that are needed to fix them?

Or the savvy media trained liar who tells us he can fix all the country's ills without raising taxes or cutting public services?

Past experience suggests the latter.

So here we are again, a Labour party gets elected, over promised, under delivered, the chancellor can't raise taxes because the economy is too fragile and is on the brink, can't cut spending because, well, she's a Labour chancellor, and the unresolved, unmitigated issues continue on, the best that can be hoped for is that we avoid some sort of debt crisis (by no means a certainty) and the baton can be passed to next sucker at the next election.

Thing is, recent elections and opinion polling is suggesting that a significant portion of the electorate is waking up to the stagnation and inertia in our two party system, so for the first time in I don't know how long there is a genuine possibility that our next government will not be a Labour or Conservative one.

I’m not trying to be right, I’m just making sure that I’ve got you right, and not falsely giving anybody the impression that you preach or pay any attention to anything that happens on here.

He has become the ghost of politics forums past , occaisonally appearing out of nowhere to warn us of the futility of our actions. You seem to have rattled his chain today though lol

Just like clockwork. The posse file in to confirm their biases.

It seems this thread is at an impasse.
