A.I. danger

The worrying thing for me about AI in the future is how many people will lose their jobs because it’s already happening now how will people earn a living because the government won’t be handing out free money.

the history of scientific innovation tells us the things that could make the world a better place always end up in the hands of wrongdoers who make it a worse place.

take the dildo, for example.

A perfect world within which you get to choose and engage in whichever version of reality meets your particular needs.

Could be the rebirth of manufacturing when people realise that office jobs are a no go.

The worrying thing is that we just do not know if anything is genuine any more:-(

That’s why there is a big push from predominantly right wing Trump/Farage etc to discredit the mainstream media, to scrap the BBC etc .. they want us getting our news from social media and AI to feed us that news.

I'm not a fan and I know I'm in the minority.

But it will just increase levels of idiocy to new heights as people have to think even less than they already do.

I work with a lady, who by her own admission isn't the brightest button in the tin.

Last week she wrote a piece for a company newsletter we now have.

When I read it and saw it was written by said lady, I thought there was no way she could have written that - it was extremely articulate.

When I jokingly asked her who wrote it for her she informed me she'd typed it up as an email, then swiped "polish" and it transformed her piece, correcting spelling mistakes, grammar, everything.

It makes amockery of those who have worked hard and tried to get an education now that any Herbert can type something and then swipe polish.

As aprevious poster has said, it will speed up mankind outdoing itself

Wouldn't that solve the 'immigration problem'? No need for immigrants anymore to boost the workforce if most of us are losing our jobs.

;-)

Do you live in Poland?? ;-)

Not only that, but it's very depressing watching proponents of AI waxing lyrically about how it has the potential to remove humans from the workplace in so many fields.

None of them, I suppose, for one second, have given any thought to what it will be like being born into a world where employment is difficult to obtain. With that scenario in mind, how are you supposed to encourage children to work hard at school with nothing available for them if they do.

It's a dystopian future, not one we have asked for, and the rich individuals benefitting from AI will continue their insatiable desire for more wealth without a care in the world about the damage their greed will have on society.

People need a reason to get up in the morning

The 'danger' with A.I, is that it is fucking dogshit, and completely fucking unreliable. Yet we have readily taken to just trusting, using, and quoting it.

It is 'impressive', sure. In the sense the ink cartridge was impressive because you suddenly had a pen you could write cleaner and more efficiently with, avoiding regularly dipping into an ink bottle, wiping excedd off, being careful etc. But you still had to use your fucking brain and skill to actually write or draw something.

The issue with AI is very few seem to use their brains, or check or question what it spits out. We are so impressed by its speed, and format, that we ignore the substance, or lack of it. And then readily trust and requote it.

But I have genuinely seen it get more wrong than right, but we seem willing to rely on it anyway.

This is not anti technology or progress. I am all for it, I welcome it. But it has a long long way to go, and we are adopting it prematurely.

AI used in the right hands is a marvellous thing and would benefit everybody, however it wont always be in the right hands and it's going to help finish mankind off sooner than we had already thought possible.

Ai can spot cancer growing on scans better than any trained oncologist can. What it could do across our buckling NHS and care services where there simply isn’t enough people to make it work could be revolutionary in the coming years with some of the robots that are being developed by Musk etc.

Flip side that needs looking at is how it’s already collapsing the job market. A lot of entry level roles are vanishing and it’s going to eat into potential apprenticeship roles when we are seeing rising unemployment of grads etc. what happens when driverless cars, vans, hgv and fully automated warehouse and distribution centres go online? A lot of the world’s population will be deemed useless for work? What happens to these people, I think it’s a far more pressing matter at the moment than if eventually AI will wipe us out.

Maybe this technology will force that on the next generation mate? Go meet a real person have a real conversation and stop following internet cults and cunts.
I see a resurgence of the high street etc, banks will re open branches so people can talk to people, AI scams will be off the scale, they can even take your voice now imitate it and use it to fool people. Nobody will trust online anymore, seeing how it’s progressed already in 18 months and it’s only going to go faster. Unfortunately greed will outway regulation as countries all try to win the race because if you don’t you will be left behind. Lots of jobs will disappear within the next 10 years unless it’s manual labour I’d worry for my job.
There’s also the question of Terminator scenario, let’s say Ukraine start using it in drones and sending them out to hunt Russians, it starts to learn exponentially at what point is it stopped?
