Sayers do the best Manchester tarts known to man. They’re something else, I tell you!

There aren’t many Sayers bakeries around though, unfortunately. There are only the Timperley, Daveyhulme and Partington (and, further out, Littlebrough and Knutsford) shops in the local area.

Quite funny that the best Manchester Tart is sold in shops not in Manchester ;-)

Luncheon meat fritters and cornflake tart with pink custard was exceptional.

Especially if in the same bowl.

I knew it was called a Manchester tart years ago, but we always called it custard pie at home and at school in the late 50s early 60s

IIRC, the name Manchester tart was 'repopularised' around the same time as the 'Manchester Bee'.

I've lived in and around manchester all my life and have absolutely no idea what a Manchester tart is.

I've heard of it but never had or seen one.
