It's Quiet the £250m return

Don't be a stat nonce mate. Bernardo's numbers looked awful for seasons when he was clearly brilliant. You've got to watch the actual football, not just wank over numbers. There's watching and there's actually seeing - big difference. And Rodrygo only 24, hasn't even hit his prime yet. Already proven at the top level with Real and Brazil. And cl.
Well no not strictly true as regardless how hard he tried Bernardo was generally pretty wank last season stats or no fukin stats

Whereas at 21, Savinho is past his prime and hasn't played for any big clubs or Brazil?

Nico isnt going to be trusted in that position until he proves he can be, it's too vital a position to push through with players who dont get it. if the 6 isnt on it, our entire gameplan suffers badly.

Reijnders needs to be freed up for the 3rd man runs, tying him down to a midfield 2 role gives him too much defensive responsibility and removes a large portion of the threat he can offer, or if he leaves his role to offer that threat, it then leaves us wide open on transition.

He's got to be played as a second 8 that acts as a 10, putting him as an 8 with a solo 6 and another 10, again leaves us wide open.

I understand how the 6 works & its importance, but how can Nico G prove he can be trusted if he isn't playing?

Reijnders would perform the 8 in the same way that Gundo has in the past - as Pep has used Reijnders as a 6, and as box to box so far (as well as further forward), he must be of the opinion that he can still be of value in those roles. Us being wide open wouldn't depend on Reijnders moving forwards from that position - it would depend on the set up, selection & positioning of other players (eg how are the fullbacks set up, is a winger inverting etc), so it's a bit disingenuous to state that.

he was shit the last two seasons yeah. Though obviously I don't remember clearly what he was like in other seasons. But you know what I meant.

Surely he knew the club would be going into the market for another keeper with the departures of Ederson and Ortega looking extremely likely, with that, it was going to be a top keeper coming in.

It’s up to Trafford to earn his place like any other player I suppose.
He’ll never start for us if we sign donnaruma though. You don’t spend 50m on a keeper of that quality and not start him.

There’s no way Trafford would have signed for us if he’d have known we’d be buying him.

He’s gone from a clear pathway to be being a bench warmer, if it’s true

Age means nothing if you're not good enough. Savinho's average and I don't rate him, simple as that. What he does on the pitch is what counts.

If we had absolutely no intention of selling that player we probably shouldn't, I'd imagine.

Akanji on a free, subsidised wages who says no? Tell him we're very grateful, we love him, but he's literally 6th choice in a position we only play 2 of.
Things change mate, if the player has indicated he'd be open to move and the offer is right.

Don't get me wrong if he's about to do an Isak, off he goes.

I just find it weird that he didn't appear to want to leave until mid-August and it happened to coincide with us failing to move 2 or 3 players it seemed like we expected to (based on how overstocked we are at CB and our january buys).

If Savinho wanted to go in June, he'd have gone in June, it'd be the easiest sale we could make.

That's not how football works, clearly the approach from Spurs is recent.

So until this week Savinho didnt know he wanted to leave and Thomas Frank didn't know he wanted him?

If he goes its because he's been pushed out for the squad places we've mismanaged or to make room for Rodrygo.
Perhaps he wasn't actively looking to leave but players do get their heads turned at times when approached by another club offering more game time and a higher salary.

Most reports (and that's all we currently have to go on) say that he is open to the move and personal terms won't be a problem, which suggests he's been talking to them for a little while at least.

What is more probable is that his name cropped up in negotiations/ discussions with Spurs about McAtee.

No I get that, but the same applies to Bernardo, Ederson.

We've kept players who've agreed terms with other clubs. You just set a price they won't pay.

If we sanction a sale for Savinho at way below market value (elanga, madueke) it's because either we're getting Rodrygo (maybe better maybe worse long term) or simply because we've failed to move on Akanji or Gundo (whoever we thought would go) and that's not to say they're not club legends but so was KDB and he ain't here.
