People trying to bring the government down, or just chaos?

Wouldn't it be great if Labour could be popular for being Labour and because of what they have done in the areas that UK citizens are most concerned about

For a lot on here it seems that Labour used to be popular because at least they were not the Tories and that was enough. Nowadays it seems to be that they are popular to the some people because they are not Reform and that is enough.

Don't be a scouser.... what do you think the Mirror, Guardian etc.... print.

Come on in so far as the press goes it is pretty much a level playing field.... oh and lets not mention the Socialist Worker.
Without any smiles or lol symbol, you are seriously comparing the Mail and Torygraph with the Socialist Worker?

Arent the numbers of illegal boat crossings higher than ever?

They are at least trying to do something about, but it’s hardly as positive as you’re suggesting. Overall on that particular issue both the tories and labour have been shocking.

Secondly do you work for labour ;)
No, that was 2023. Unfortunately that figure may well get eclipsed this year.

A lot on here don’t want to judge this government in absolute terms, and on its own merit, because they won’t like the outcome.

Much better to post some nonsense from social media of someone obviously not right in the head and convince themselves that all non-Labour voters are like this, call them Gary Gammon and try to feel good about it all.

The Tories had 14 years
Labour have had 1.
They’re already doing far more on the issue than the Tories.
50,000 migrants from small boat crossings in Labour’s first year - a record by some considerable margin -suggests otherwise.

Are the official statistics on small boat crossings part of the right wing media conspiracy to bring the government down?

Months of calm weather has been a factor in this.

also they are getting over as much as possible because Labour are tightening restrictions, have bills in parliament to go through and setting up with France on this issue, far more than the Tories ever did.

50,000 people coming here illegally and billions spent is a failure in my opinion. 1 year or not. The numbers only seem to be going up.

Both the tories and labour have been poor on this. We can only judge labour on what they have done so far and it doesn’t seem to be making much difference at all.

Once all implementations take place that take time , the France deal, the border bill etc numbers will drop - let’s see in 6-9 months.

Oh dear oh dear oh dear... poor likkle Labour the whole world and the press hates them. I wonder why?

If the victim mode they are adopting is in fact true then.... who do they have to balme having gained such a huge majority in Parliament?

I suggest they and all their die hard supporters look in the mirror and congratulate themselves for doing such a fabulous job in catapulting Reform and Farage to the top of nearly every poll going..

The current Labour Government have done a better PR job for Farage and Reform than they could ever have dreamed off. Shocking eh?

I don't support labour, so no. victim mode, just what I see.

Rational, not spin. hard to differenate in todays uproar social media world.

Politics is real world. One job, make folk feel good about themselves by generally making life easier for them and by making them better off.

So far, unlike Blair, Starmer has done about as shit a job at doing that as is possible so people will criticise and vent.

Your issue with social media is you only want it all one way. Not a peep when it’s your own side peddling their politics and opinions but it’s cry foul for anything you don’t like.

It’s not how it works I’m afraid but fear not, Labour will be gone soon and you can spend at least 5 years on social media doing exactly what you spend most days moaning about and that is, slagging the government off and demanding a change.

This year is a write off on the numbers. The Govt might as well just take the lumps for it and put it in the rear view. They have three and half years to sort this.

Firstly, by clearing the back log and keeping on top of new applications. Secondly, by demonstrating the value of the send back program with France and building on that. If you reduce the value in making the crossing then crossings will drop and if you incentivise those applicants who don’t make the crossing, ie one in, one out, then you are likely to reduce the optics of those arriving by boat.

They need to build a narrative of a steady decline in crossings and the visible front print of migrant hotels etc. Unfortunately, building a narrative is not this Govts strongpoint, but fingers crossed, the numbers will hopefully sell the story :)

It would be much more preferable if they actually did and delivered on what they said they were going to, as opposed to doing what they have done for the last 14 months which is building narratives which people are clearly beginning to see through.

Just you keep them fingers crossed everyone, it will be as just as useful and more likely to deliver success thsn snything thst has gone before.

I don’t know the figures for number of boats.

Crossings are often linked to good weather

The numbers coming over are higher but the numbers on each boat are massively higher so I suspect the actual number of crossings are down despite the better weather. This would suggest the gangs are being smashed but those left are doing better from there point of view

I look in the mirror every day knowing that the last lot took this country to the brink.

Now not everything Labour has done so far is good or indeed even sensible but, the average man is no better or worse off-are you personally?(forgetting they don't decide your car insurance premium) .

Yes, some businesses are worse off with the NI changes. Many pieces of legislation have been brought in, that in the long run, benefit average people, the likes of you and me.

It is actually you that should look in the mirror, admit that when you voted to leave. you voted to make not only the country but yourself poorer-well poor ikkle Joe-tough shit, live with it, you knew what you were voting for.

I couldn't conceive that there are such narrow minded, selfish, uneducated (never a clever or original idea from you Joe) knobs as you around that would vote for Nigel and his pals, supposedly as a "protest vote" as you once claimed.

You don't even offer support to the party you are going to vote for because you know you'll just prove to all on here just what you're really like, although I think most have seen through the facade already.

From a non die hard for any political party voter.
