I believe what has been suggested by the club, via one or two journalists.
They would like to keep Ederson for one last year, not actively trying to replace him. This gives Trafford comfort, a chance to clain no.1 then assess the market next year whether there is a need to bring in an established no.1 or a no.2 to trafford. Particularly as there have been no remotely appropriate offers for Ederson, and next year other keepers might be easier to sign (either cheaper or out of contract like Donnarumma).
But if an appropriate offer comes in for Ederson that makes it worth selling and he wants to go, and this aligns with a top keeper becoming available (like donnaruma falling out with psg and wanting out now rather than next year) then they'll react and move eddie on and sign a replacement.
If not, he stays.
