Always think the Japanese seem to have got away lightly from WW2, they were worse than the Germans in many ways particularly their treatment of POWs, I went to the Bridge on the River Kwai in Thailand and the museum there is haunting. The Railway Man, Colin Firth portrays an ex POW who was captured by the japanese and put to work on the railway line in Burma/Thailand. Gives a good insight into the mental damage done to many hundreds/thousands by the brutal treatment they received.

Tom Hardy is a great actor and screen presence but he’s done a few duff ones……..Havoc is the worst Tom Hardy film of all time.

Considering what they did both before and during the second world war it tempers the feeling of pity somewhat. Their behavior was reprehensible.Hiroshima and Nagasaki
Yeah like CaponeTom Hardy is a great actor and screen presence but he’s done a few duff ones……..

I read the book -The Rape of Nanking. What the Japanese did there was barbaric.
Apologies for bringing a book into the film thread.
My Grandad fought the Japs in Burma and he despised them, not so much the Germans though because he didn't have a bad time with them personally. His Grandad probably hated the French because Napoleon was a ****.
Time heals most things but what happened in Nanking will never be erased it was horrific. I don't know how the German people kept sane with the barbaric treatment of people they murdered and displaced and the effect the Russians and Allies raping their women had on their national psyche.
War is shit.
Did the someone end up having a cock?I watched a film last night called 'The Best Offer'. Its about an older guy auctioneer (Geoffrey Rush) who has spent his life alone who finally falls for someone, it was turning out to be a really good film, but it took an unexpected turn and I ended up hating it!
I'm not sure why they keep regurgitating this, given it was shite in the first place. It will never make a good film. This new War of the Worlds film looks so unbelievably shite I might have to watch it.
It's a brilliant film. Realistic, and in the end, manages to show mankind to be as forgiving as sometimes brutal. The Railway Man, Colin Firth portrays an ex POW who was captured by the japanese and put to work on the railway line in Burma/Thailand. Gives a good insight into the mental damage done to many hundreds/thousands by the brutal treatment they received.
Aiming for the female Jason Statham market perhaps? The Cleaner. Daisy Ridley as a female John McLean. Seriously? Bruce Willis was bad enough. Yippee Ki Yay indeed.
1.5/10. And that's because I'm a bloody nice guy, and feeling benevolent. Her grandad would have made a better action hero!
