Spot on 100% correctMaybe Pep's system has changed. Teams have learnt how to deal with Pepball and maybe he is transitioning to a more traditional system.

You are assuming he is not? You're assuming that Pep is clear when expressing his thoughts in controversial situations. It's likely that the DOF rates Donnarumma and is likely pushing hard for this.
Yeah, it needs a lot of work. I admit, I'm a terrible song writer.2nd line has had a nightmare mate.
Obviously. I've stated this time and again. And it's speculation on my part which might easily be way off the mark. You are assuming he is not?
Guardiola is very likely to be gone in 18 months, possibly earlier if we don’t put up a proper title challenge this season.Has Pep decided this?
Pep seems to have trouble directly saying "no" to a player and/or management. In interviews about Joe Hart, Pep consistently said that Hart could be first choice and that he could improve Hart's passing and so on.
Ibra at Barca was another situation in which Pep didn't come right out and say that he's moulding the team around Messi and Ibra had to deal with it.
There are other examples which don't come to mind at the moment - but Pep seems to be very adverse to direct confrontation.
So the director of football expresses keen interest in Donnarumma - is Pep going to say, "fuck no, he doesn't fit our system?" - or is he going to express doubt - but ultimately give his OK?
The above is of course 100% speculation - but that's my take on what might be going on.
Fair point and one which I haven't considered. Touche!Guardiola is very likely to be gone in 18 months, possibly earlier if we don’t put up a proper title challenge this season.
At what point should the club stop signing players to fit a particular, very distinct system, and begin to sign top class players who can play and flourish under a variety of managers?
The more I read that, the more I find it the most bonkers take on this yet! You're assuming that Pep is clear when expressing his thoughts in controversial situations. It's likely that the DOF rates Donnarumma and is likely pushing hard for this. Hugo Vianna has never worked with Pep before and may be misreading Pep.
Again, 100% speculation - but that's my take.
I can't argue with any of that. It's your speculative take. I've expressed mine and still back it.The more I read that, the more I find it the most bonkers take on this yet!
I find it easier to believe Pep suddenly one day just giving up on his life long footballing philosophy, or even losing his marbles and going full tonto this season, than that Viana is forcing a player on Pep because he likes him, despite him being 'all wrong' for us. And Pep not having the cajones to tell him that.
Sure. Your take is fucking nuts though mate ;).I can't argue with any of that. It's your speculative take. I've expressed mine and still back it.
And in my view, your's is less likely true. But we'll never know either way.Sure. Your take is fucking nuts though mate.
You dont even have to stop some shots according to some of our fans ;-)View attachment 165947
I want to be a professional footballer. 12 million for standing on the line and saving some shots.
Makes a lot more sense than him coming here tbhLooks the sort of transfer that'll end up at United, weirdly.

Full credit on being so polite. It is refreshing. And in my view, your's is less likely true. But we'll never know either way.
I would however point out that my opinion is absolutely not that Viana is consciously forcing a player on Pep - it's rather my view that Pep is very passive and almost never says flat out "no" - and given Viana's lack of experience with Pep - may be misreading how Pep actually feels.
He spelt defence the American way so I agree, fucking nuts.Sure. Your take is fucking nuts though mate ;).
I can’t understand this idea of him going to United. Don’t think a player in his mid twenties widely regarded as one of the best in the world in his positionwould settle for anything other than a top club with champions league football.Looks the sort of transfer that'll end up at United, weirdly.
United have in very large part just bought bad players and employed bad managers.Like UTD? Worked well that
