Best keeper in the world but shite with his feet apparently, so to be the best in the world he must compensate for his short falls massively, maybe we might not concede from the first nine shots on goal in various games last season and swap that for a few missed placed passes from the keeper
I like this take. I too am worried about his distribution under pressure but then Ederson doesn't inspire any confidence in his shot stopping. Anytime there is a counter attack, I just think its a goal against him. So it might explain the tradeoff we might be choosing by going for him.

I'm quite excited by the thought of us getting him.

It'll be nice to have brilliant shot stopper and presence in goal.

Like I and many others have said, PSG didn't suffer with his feet.

Ederson is a one-off. If we try to replace him with a keeper who is advertised as being good with his feet, I guarantee you they'll be closer to Onana than Ederson.

Rather than doing that, just get the best keeper possible, one that just happened to win the CL in a team that play good football. An attempted like for like Ederson replacement is only going to be underwhelming.

It’s a balance, like any other purchase.

It took PSG a long time to win the CL with him in goal and they’ve decided to replace him straight afterwards.

He’ll have to be better at shot stopping if our build up doesn’t work as well as he’ll likely face more shots.

Time will tell.

Indeed, I agree with that. Everything has a trade off too.

Well, PSG replaced him but they may well find out his ability to stop shots was an integral part of them winning the CL too. Who knows.

I still stand by my point that we'll probably get underwhelmed with any keepers distribution after Ederson, even if they're supposedly good with their feet. So I think id cut my losses on that and get possibly the best shot stopper out there.

Anyway, he may not even join. I certainly won't be disappointed if he does. Just as I won't be disappointed if Ederson stays.

All that matters to me is we don't replace players with players on a lower level. I think both are world class at different things.

Fair point. That said, we didn't win immediately with Ederson in goal. I'm not saying he was the reason we didn't win it earlier but it wasn't straight away.

Ederson will leave as City's all time best goalkeeper. The honours won make that obvious.
Good luck to him.
Donna is gonna follow in those steps with heaps of pressure (if he signs).
Good news is the guy has proved he has the minerals at every level and team he's played at.
Trafford has got a battle to be top dog, but if he didn't realise that when signing back at City, he underestimated the level City are now at.
All time best .. for now

Don't use the CL as a barometer, look who was in goal for Inter when they played us in the final

Are you Trafford's mum? Your original attack line was "This isn't fair to Trafford." As you didn't have too many rushing to support you, you are changing it to how cruel everyone is being to Eddy.

Weird response mate.

Thinking we've mishandled the backup goalkeeper situation and thinking we should respect the most successful goalkeeper in our history are two entirely separate things.

Anyone such as yourself choosing to keep tabs on what I write should easily be able to piece together that I'm not arsed about pandering to anyone on here. I repeatedly make it very clear that I hold most users opinions in incredibly low regard and am often an insufferable and condescending twat who will happily go out of my way to piss on everyone's chips.

I say what I think and don't crave validation from a single user of this website.

Who won? Onana didn't.

Besides, the point i'm making is everyone last season was praising PSG and the way they played in games. Nobody was saying "PSG play football but that keeper is awful with his feet"

He wasn't preventing PSG playing good football or winning things. I bet he saved their arses plenty though.
