Savinho | City reject Spurs approach

Its only a season ago, the season before last.
But we need to talk about last season when he hardly set the world alight . He’s raw potential who could go any way but I don’t think he is good enough or ever will be for what we need .

He’s raw potential who could go any way

One might have said the same about Palmer before his move to Chelsea, he hadn't scored a PL goal. Same age too.

Obviously, there's a risk. Savinho might become a better player than Rodrygo. The latter is a superior finisher but things change. Salah wasn't a great finisher when he was 21.

That's why we want 70m. Looks ridiculous for a player with 2 goals for City, but the potential is there.

Who is then
You said he was, and I quote, 'awful'. It is a preposterous statement. Why would we be offered 60m by a big club in the PL for an awful player?
You said he was the worst player in the squad. Why would you cast that aspersion on a 20 year old? It is, IMO, a stupid thing to say about such a young player, apart from being palpably untrue.

I imagine that as you are reading this you will be waiting to write something akin to, 'You didn't answer the question.' Just to clarify, I have no desire to identify the 'worst player'. Firstly, it would be an entirely subjective answer devoid of any factual content, and secondly, I support my team so I look at strengths and development areas. Savinho has plenty of strengths - first touch, dribbling skills, pace. He has, like any young player, some areas for development - tracking back, physical strength, finishing.

Have a think about the comment you made. I don't know why you would make it, but sometimes we have reasons that others are not aware of.

it wouldn’t shock me if we end up selling him and not replacing. Could see us putting all our focus on Rodrygo and Madrid don’t sell or he changes his mind

Still be fine, Savio is a class winger but he’s absolutely bollocks in front of goal. Take Bobb over him at the moment any day.

Think he will do well at spurs if they play him on the left probably get 20/30 G&A
He’d have to at some point to justify a £60-70m price tag. At this price, there is a far greater risk attached to this deal for Spurs, than there is for us.

I think I am easy either way where Sav is concerned. If he stays, I have seen there is real potential there and hopefully he can realise it. If he leaves, we are going to get a great fee and there’s a high chance he doesn’t ever fulfil the potential.

You wouldn’t keep entertaining bids if he was that valued.
Are they 'entertaining' bids though?

The language attributed to the club in the claims is completely different to, for example Newcastle's for Isak (who clearly Are entertaining bids).

The club are claimed, by UK journalists, to literally have said, 'they don't want to sell and consider the matter closed'. They have also simply rejected an offer, not commented how close or not it is. It is quite different to the language quoted when we sold Alvarez, or even Ederson just now.

Any mention of potential price is coming from Brazilian journalists, so likely from Savinho's agent.

Bids are being made, but certainly nothing that suggests the club are actively encouraging them. And not that much of a push from the player's side either.

If spurs have indeed bid 60m (nobody else has backed that claim), they have surprised me abd matbe thay Are keen enough to get it. But this is one I can see not happening this window. Probably the minute I post this a tweet will drop that the deal is close! But that's my gut feeling just now.

I believe we are yeah, the entire situation just feels different to if anyone had come after other players in the team.

City seem pretty easy with him going at a good price, we know we already have players in the team to replace him but are also likely doing groundwork on Rodrygo etc so they can pull the trigger if needed on that.

I think it depends on whether or not the reports of a 2nd offer are genuine or not. If they are true, I expect that means we are willing to do business, because it gives some insight into what our response to the original offer was.

Madrid will sell, they want Konate even made room in their squad for one more signing. Money from Rodrygo sale is going towards Konate, they want him this window
