Kalvin Phillips

The best idea for me would be for him to go to NYC on loan/free.

Over here every club has younger, more athletic and cheaper options than him. He'd have to step down too far and we'd have to pay the large proportion of his wages.

In terms of NYC, for him:

- same language (more or less)
- less of a humiliating step down than a move to the Championship (or lower!)
- games which are a bit more open and may suit him better
- still some big name players there

For them:

- can still bill him as an England international and winner at City
- may do well at their level.
- could probably have some fair agreement about his wages etc.

I've just read he's contracted here till summer of 2028.

He's on a whopping 150k per week and can't even make the fuckin' match squad!

When will we ever learn? : /

Tbf, we've only signed him once, so not sure what the last sentence relates to...?

It was a shite deal when we did it, but that was ages ago now. Totally horrendous though.

Last sentence meant I don't think we should dive in head first offering players long contracts, 6 years for Phillips was a ridiculous decision.

When Haaland signed the contract extension first thoughts I had was what if he gets a bad injury, or turns to shit.

Certainly that contract was bloody difficult to understand, and has come back to haunt us big time.

Don't recall having to fight many others off for his signature either.
