Last sentence meant I don't think we should dive in head first offering players long contracts, 6 years for Phillips was a ridiculous decision.

When Haaland signed the contract extension first thoughts I had was what if he gets a bad injury, or turns to shit.

Fair enough, I get what you mean. There are obviously cost benefits to both sides in a longer contract, but why anyone thought Phillips needed one to come here totally beats me.

The thing that blows my mind with Phillips is not that he failed to make the grade (not every transfer will work), but that he was given a six year contract (that would make him 32 at the end of it). Basically he knew from the start he was sorted for his entire playing career. I thought only our elite players were put on that length of contract.

Last thing I heard was that he's trying to get a move back to Leeds, but the injury recovery needs to happen.
His partner is heavily pregnant and they both still live Yorkshire way so can't see him going abroad

with hindsight yes , however the city coaching team obviously wanted him that much they paid millions for him,he isn't shit he is actually very decent player however it didn't work out, which is a shame for us and him
