Morning All.

Fantastic win yesterday that has left me hugely optimistic about our chances this season.

With Peps comments yesterday about our squad still being far too big the question now is who leaves ?

Given the fact Rodri, Foden, Gvardiol and Kova were injured that means potentially FOUR (SIX including Savinho and Ederson) players from yesterday’s squad wouldn’t make the match day squad at all (which we know Pep hates doing) assuming everyone is fit.

In summary, I think we can expect at least four names to leave between now and deadline day in 2 weeks.

My question is who ?

I would guess at : Eddie, Rico or Akanji, Gundo, Savinho, Kalvin Phillips (Doubt we will be able to give him away).

Those expecting Rodrygo to be be brought in to replace Sav will be disappointed as we simply have too many bodies in attacking areas as it is which Pep said himself yesterday.

He’s alluding to other players in my opinion. We bought in players in January that will replace players. For instance Khusanov means a CB needs to go, Nico G means a CM needs to go.

With Jack gone and Savio going no way we don’t recruit a player. I know some people have doubts we’d want to bring in a high profile/expensive player but I really think it happens.

For me Gundo, Akanji and/or Kovacic could all still leave. Not all but expect something around these guys.

Ortega also going.

Players to leave on loan will be Phillips, Echeverri, Nypan, JWE, Kabore.

On that logic who misses out on match day squads each week all together ?

I don't think we'll plan like no one is ever injured.

If Rodrygo is Pep's dream signing I doubt he'll turn him down so a 5th choice CB isn't a bit miserable every now and then.

Plus you can rotate that bench across games, if O Reilly starts a league game is he bothered if he doesn't get on the bench for the next CL game?

Yeah a CB definitely goes. With Gvardiol and Ake also covering LB (Ake being homegrown as well) and O'Reilly at a real push I think Akanji is being told the minutes won't be there.

Ake is important because he covers CB, LB and is homegrown. He also played last year whilst injured and Pep loves that commitment.

I did wonder if we might loan out Nico G with Pep not really using him last year but I think him starting yesterday shows we'd listen on Gundo or maybe Kova (but weird we rejected an offer if so)

I didnt realise until recently Nico was struggling with his fitness and recovery from his injury from his first game for us last year, maybe that was why he didnt play. Plus we know the 6 for Pep is hard to get used to!

Remember we are rejecting bids for Savio and saying he's part of our plans because the fee isn't what we want. Sounds like the same might happen with Eddie as well. But we know they are both gone. Its us telling them we want x amount for these players.

Us turning down an approach for Kov from Saudi could mean nothing. We sort the squad out and if they come back in with a more realistic fee then he goes. That Saudo comment from Pep was telling. But I think Kov is very highly rated at the club.

Personally I think it's Gundo and Akanji that go. Too much talk about Gundo and Turkey for something not to materialise and the Turkish sources have been spot on about all things related to the Eddie deal.

Out - Ederson, Ortega, Akanji, Phillips, Nunes (after Rico's recent comments), Gundogan, Savinho and Echeverri (loan).

In - Donnarumma, a right back (assuming Nunes leaves), a goal scoring winger.

No way Nunes leaves now, you can argue the rights and wrongs of it (for me he’s not good enough), but it seems clear we’re going with it.

Ederson (not being in the squad yesterday seals that)
Ortega (many teams in the prem could do with him)
Phillips (loan and probably 25% of the wage covered)
Gundogan or Kov (I’d keep Kov but could see the club going for Gundo)
Akanji (if we can)
Savio - Stays for me, I just not sure it gets done. Set a price and a deadline (so we can get a player in) if not meet keep him.
Then the developing loan players

There is quite a bit to do and clubs will be taking their time trying to get a bargain.

Some posters on here will be upset with the prices as I think we are not in a good position with any of these sales bar Savio.

A squad of 26 is a stupid suggestion. Are you really suggesting we leave 6 players out of every match day squad (3 if we base it on having 3 injuries each game). Players will not accept sitting at home - it’s insulting.

How big is Arsenal and Liverpool 's squads.

26 is about an average squad size. Much smaller and you are risking injuries impacting performance.

City will do well to get down to 26

They will come down as players leave but around 26 will be average. At the moment most clubs have 30 and will lose around 4 players on average before the window closes so I have no idea what he’s on about.

Akanji could be a possible especially if we’re keeping Nunes and Lewis
