He saved three in the 17/18 season and one in the Everton game at the end of COVID, Sergio's last season. He's been a fantastic and unique signing for City.

Not having a go at you just stating the facts and the fact that he hasn't saved one for quite a while. But I'm glad you agree he's been great for City. For what it's worth it is probably the right time for Eddie to move on if his head isn't quite there with regards to City.

At the end of the day, there’s seemingly no interest in Ederson or he has no interest in going anywhere other than Turkey. So our hands are tied, we will always do well by any club legend so that’s what we’re trying to do. If he goes for 15m euros as a 32yr old keeper that’s hardly a nominal fee. No sane person (Viana) is going to sit by and say nah I want 40m I don’t care if it comes at the cost of what Ederson wants or Pep wants.

the fee is pure profit on PSR and Eddie leaves on good terms.

Just don’t understand why so many posters are up in arms against it.

He has no doubt. And he was motm in champions league final in Istanbul. He’s been shite with penalties though you can’t dress it up he just falls to the ground sluggishly it’s a goal every time. Legend of the club and not trying to slate him or suggest otherwise. Huge part of our build up especially in early years, outrageous level of passing ability short and long and a mad fearless bastard who none of us will forget. But - controversial opinion I know, put Alison or Neuer in our side 2018-2024 and imo we’d have won at least one maybe a couple more champions leagues. There’s been countless times over the years where he’s made howlers that aren’t obvious because he doesn’t let many slip through him like eg Onana but at times his positioning for 1 on 1s, or for opponents shooting from outside / edge of he box has been woeful and basically showed them 3/4 of the goal.

I’m not saying Donnarumma is THAT transformative btw, just that I think a peak neuer or Alison, who are not as good with their feet but can still play but who dominate their areas and make outrageous saves they have no right to get to take us to even more trophies. Donnarumma is not that level because he isn’t as good as them with his feet and like Ederson he can flap on crosses, but imo he gets in strikers heads when they’re going through on goal / taking a pen to the same way Neuer at his best and Alison do, I think he has that same aura. And imo we need that now we are a shambles defensively.
 
Eddie has been fundamental yo our success under Pep. Mad as a hatter and brave as a lion. One on one he's struggled with and i never had faith in him to save pens. But many times his ability to spot danger and charge out of his box saved us plenty of goals that keepers rooted to their line would probably concede.

I feel it's time for him to go but it's been a pleasure and I will miss him.

Good post. It's a good arguement about Allison and Never unfortunately we will never know but Donnarumma could be that man.
