Good fucking god, that Isak statement. What a giant baby. The guy signed a six-year deal with Newcastle and now halfway through it he decides he wants out. Newcastle say "No mate, you signed a six-year deal" and now he's on about broken promises or whatever the fuck. He's playing European football and he'll still get his move in 2026. He desperately needs to get that dummy back in.
This is how it was when Tevez was at City. A dynamite player who was too good for us at the time - he basically dragged us up the league on his own. But every summer it was "Ooh my precious ego, won't somebody consider my ego, I might leave City... for my ego..." and every summer he stayed, until we realised Aguero was unbelievably loyal and we fucked Tevez off to Juve.
Isak's got 10 years left at the top level, give or take. He's playing for a team in the Champions League that (nowadays anyway) wins trophies. He's living in a swanky apartment in a great city and he's playing in front of one of the most passionate fanbases in Europe. 50,000+ people love him to bits and would happily lick the shit off his shoes, even if he was plucked from them for £100m next summer. And he decides to blow it all up, for what?
It feels like Bruno Guimaraes understands all of the above and therefore needs to have a word with Mr. Isak. Football is football, and Isak will probably play for Newcastle again soon and he'll be booed until he scores a goal, but Christ alive, why don't players wait until they've got a bit more leverage before kicking up a fuss like this? They're so badly advised. Kane did the same thing in 2021 at Spurs and it blew up his City move.
Players have far, far too much power these days. Football embraced the mighty dollar and gave it all to the agents. The genie's been out the bottle for years. Isak's actually managed to get himself in a position where, without doing any of the legal stuff, he's gone on strike. He hasn't even handed in an official transfer request, he's just decided he's never going to work for his employer ever again. It's incredible.
