Manuel Akanji | Rumours of an Inter loan deal

I think we can conclude we have seen the best of Ed, Gundog and Akanji and all have made massive contributions I would confidently predict we would win little this season if that trio were regular starters.Simply put their race here is run. Sav is a different kettle of fish and we will find out over the next week what happens him.
You seem to be contradicting yourself there a bit.

I think we'll see Ederson, Akanji, Gundogan and Savinho all departing, I'd be happy enough with that if it was making room for Donnarumma and Rodrygo.

I still think we should hold onto Akanji, just because we have Ake and Stones who are made of wet bog roll.

If we sell and replace both Eddie and Savinho with Donnarumma and Rodrygo, then we still need one of either Akanji or Gundo to leave to reduce the NHG squad list to the required 17.

That’s also assuming Ortega leaves, which is looking likely.

Like you, I’d probably prefer Gundo to be the one that goes, but he seems determined to stay - so it looks more likely Akanji will be the easier to shift.

Yagiz is number one source for Galatasaray. Makes sense if Akanji doesn't want to go Turkey when Leverkusen are there for him.

Leverkusen would actually be the only Bundesliga club to cover his wages as Bayern just signed Tah from L'kusen while Dortmund probably wouldn't take Manu back.

Could have an eye on Ech ;)
Would be a good fit.

They lost Tah recently too so would make sense that they need a CB. One that's got experience in Germany too which would be a plus for them.

I presume relations are good right now too because of the Echeverri deal having no option to buy.

Leverkusen make a lot more sense than Galatasaray. I still have doubts Akanji will leave, but Leverkusen are a much more realistic destination.

Note, however, that the rumour doesn't come from Germany. Might be another bullshit story.

Leverkusen just signed Loïc Badé. They also have Hincapié, Tapsoba, Quansah, Tape and Belocian. Their back three seems sorted with these 6 centre backs.

Why wouldn't Akanji leave?

He will be 31 when his contract runs out. Is it not better he commits himself to a say 3 year deal now and is set, than potentially reducing his chances next year. Particularly if he doesn't play as much or has injury issues, could see it affect options next year.

We don't know what Pep has told him. Pep may have told him that he stays due to his availability and versatility. The way Pep talks about how grateful he is that Bernardo and other players were available when we were going through a crisis last season, I wouldn't be surprised if Pep wanted him to stay.

I don't think some on here half realise the issue of availability. It has been a recurrent topic in Pep's interviews since November.

Maybe Khusanov solves the issue and Akanji moves. Or maybe Pep wants Akanji to stay. We'll know soon enough. The selection of the match group vs Spurs will be telling, given Gvardiol and maybe Rodri will be included.

I agree completely about the lack f appreciation shown and negativity. But I don't think that means we should keep. Its a bit like when Laporte left . He had done a fantastic job for us and had played through pain to see us over the line.
But there are limited spaces at the back and we have too many central defenders, I think Akanji going with our best wishes would be in the interests of him and the club.

I don't mind people like yourself having a different opinion. What I don't like is the emptyheaded "get rid" and ignorant criticism of Manuel.
