Those two ran out of material years ago.
That double act of Carragher & Neville only really works if both their respective teams are competing for the same prizes.
If things continue as they are, they'll soon be competing in different leagues.
As it stands Neville is the fall guy who has to endure the smug remarks from Carragher while trying to appear magnanimous.
Completely agree but I was making a slightly different point
Their fans might dislike each other, but Neville in particular is astute enough to realise that by working together they can play to the clickbait gallery and perpetuate the myth that United-Liverpool has always been the biggest fixture in the English football calendar, whilst simultaneously referencing organic growth and sportswashing as though they're somehow morally superior
They think we've forgotten the 1950s when they weren't even in the same division or the 1970s when Leeds United were the team that everyone wanted to beat.
They think we don't notice when the rags publish a 72,000 attendance for their FA Cup defeat against Fulham before revising it the following morning.(once the laughter has died down) to a more realistic figure of 65,000
They think we don't notice Neville's carefully reversed one-liners "Chelsea bottle jobs" etc when he can justify the insults on his own show and then be quoted in the mainstream media
"Let the chaos begin" was how he began a recent United-Liverpool game, simply desperate for something spectacular to happen
They think we don't notice when Carragher compares Liverpool's net spend with City's gross spend as though it's a serious comparison
The funniest moment from last season was when Neville backed himself into a corner after United had lost at Tottenham and did what all rags do when they've lost the argument
Refer to size!
"I know it's controversial but Tottenham are bigger than City"
Like we give a flying fuck
For the moment we have to grin and bear it, but all the school kids are wearing City shirts.
Tick Tock
