1 | James Trafford - 2025/26

And age doesn't mean anything..

I remember Joe Hart's debut and that away game vs Spurs.

How old was he back then, I don't think much older than Trafford, but talent was there.
I don't see talent in this kid.

Claudio Bravo ? from the beginning he was shite

I remember Ederson's debut.. Calm, professional, strong, stable, disciplined.

That's the standard.

Time won't cure anything.
What's bad will always stay bad.

You don’t see the talent yet he’s made several very decent saves that Ederson probably doesn’t.

Not sure how it’s his fault the rest of the team want to play suicidal back passes to him

Ederson probably doesn't ? :D

Have you watched City's games for the last 10 years ?

PS I bet Bazunu or even Muric were more talented than this kid..

Ignoring the obvious mistake for the second goal, his decision making when coming out of his box for the ball was downright awful...as bad as ive seen from anyone

We either change the way we play as a whole team and especially how we defend or we keep Ederson and Trafford has to be brought on slowly and accept being a number 2

Looked like a rabbit in the headlights on more than one occasion today. 2 or 3 times he was in no man's land outside the box.

Was frustrated he kept playing it short despite intense Spurs press instead of looking for an out ball over the top. Far too predictable.

He just needs license to clear it when he deems it risky.

There's no reason to turn him into what he's not.. instead just go with what his strengths are.
Exactly. He needs to know that he can play against the orders of the manager with no risk. I wonder if he knows that.

Do people know that Trafford has come through City’s academy and been managed by Kompany, his default is to play out from
the back and be comfortable in possession.

People are acting like he’s never been asked to play like this before…

So bored of playing out the back and it not working

Feel for the kid, hes not Ederson and nobody helped him, its a horrible mistake (and it is his mistake) but this comes form first principles set iut by the coach and that is on Pep
The style may be set by Pep but the players execute it. It was a dreadful pass, that’s on Trafford

Yeah I have, watched 90% of any team’s first shots on target go in most weeks, what have you been watching?

What a load of bollocks.

Sniff sniff

If Ederson wants to be elsewhere, and it looks like he does, then we have to get a proven goalkeeper. Nobody out there who is available does it like Ederson though so we are going to have to adapt our style of play to accommodate .
Why Pep thought that playing short balls to Trafford and vice versa would work god only knows, but you could see that Trafford wasnt comfortable playing that way. Trafford is for the future maybe who knows? But we urgently need a proven international/CL keeper who carries some proven status in the nets, even if he can't mimic Eddie.

Some massive overreactions here - what a shock
Which is the bigger overreaction?

1. Those that have concocted a scenario where Trafford is inevitable. They have decided that he is an amazing keeper, better than Eddie and we don’t need Donnarumma after a comfortable performance against a shite Wolves side.

2. Those that had genuine concerns about him being number 1 even before today, and have just witnessed the 2nd goal as well as other very nervy moments.

I agree.

Many forget at the same age as Trafford, Hart got PFA team of the year for Birmingham in the PL and was nothing short of outstanding. Many teams up and down the country wanted him and if he wasn't a City player, he would have replaced van der Sar at United.

He was decent for us the season prior to him going on loan there.

Trafford kept so many clean sheets last season because Parker parked a tank every game. Also the level at which the Championship is at now is dreadful.

Everyone saw under Kompany is a smilar style of football to us, Trafford just did not look at the level that was required.

The jump from Championship to us is just too big, and why anyone at the club thought he was the right man to be number 1 after such a tumultuous defensive campaign last season is beyond me.

I've seen Ederson do the exact same thing before, even in a game against the exact same team haha. Didn't get on Eddie's back then, not going to get on Trafford's back now.

Surely after 8 years of playing with the ball at the feet of the keeper fans understand this is something that happens from time to time?

What choice do we have, the other keepers are not their way out, no sane person plays someone who’s head is elsewhere
