Pep Guardiola - 2025/26

Pep has proved people wrong many times, he had one poor season last year that’s it. The recruitment was shite and he definitely trusted some of the old guard too much, but that’s not only him - that’s Txiki, Ferrari, Khaldoon… they’re all involved in that side of things.

I think when he leaves he will leave us with a young squad who are set up for long-term success, he won’t prioritise short-term success at the risk of jeopardising the club’s future - the opposite of what Ferguson did.

The transfer window has been good, last weeks performance was great, a lot of noise coming from players and coaches has been positive - today was poor yes, but there’s still plenty of reasons to be optimistic.
The performance was a shock today.
Last week was positive against a really poor wolves.
The last 2 seasons were turgid, yes we won the league in one of them but we were the best of a bad bunch.

I dont see why hes going to suddenly change his style when prem football has evolved away from his style. Why will he suddenly go against all his principles that hes held since a player under cruyff.

I admire your optimism. But football changes very quickly and there has been precious few top managers who change with it.
They have their time in the sun, and then its gone

Embarrassed on his own patch by Thomas Frank. Hopefully just teething problems.

You mean again...

I agree football is changing, my optimism comes from the new coaching appointments and the profile of the new players - if you look at the current best team in the world (PSG) - they have a nice balance of possession based football that is purposeful. I think we will get to that, but it can’t happen overnight.

Also, PSG struggled against this Spurs team, it’s set up in a way that plays to our weaknesses. If Bobb gets that penalty, Haaland makes that pass or Rodri scores that header - you could definitely imagine the game finishing 2-2, the same result PSG had against Spurs.

My worry is we are 2 years into a decline. So do we accept this season may be another fallow year, but dont worry we will be fine after that ?

Let’s see how it turns out, I think the trajectory will definitely be upwards. A shame we had to play the double whammy of Frank and Spurs this early in the season as there’s not much evidence for people to not start to panic.

As you alluded to, we fell off a lot last year due to the shite recruitment, we’re probably not going to go straight back to treble winners the season after.

Thomas Frank. Apparently coaching Kryptonite for the best in the world. The excuses here are top notch.

Opposing squads have had 9 years to figure out how to beat Pep. Teams have been built to this purpose. He’s the best ever, but he’s going to have to figure out how to get out of this corner that teams have us in tactically. So far, it’s been a atruggle

No i didnt think for one second we would. Teams have improved , every year is a battle for top 4 now

as i keep asking, when are we allowed to question pep.

If we don’t challenge for the PL this season and we have a poor Champions League campaign, I would also question him.

Stunk the place out again.

No pattens of play at all and trying to play out with a keeper tha obviously can’t do it.

Subs were shocking as well. Rodri and Foden half an hour too late and Doku and Bernardo both dropped 0/10s when they came on.

Need to start questioning him. His football style might have had its day and he needs to adapt.

Otherwise I can see it ending in tears. For everyone.

I can see what Pep is cooking, but it will take time for everyone to click

Like usually we are slow at the start and then we pick up later on

Believe!

I can't really remember the last time we reacted tactically in a game. Frank did today when AitNouri went off and hammered balls out to our left. We don't ever seem to switch things up at all. In fact I'd go as far back as the treble season to find anything we've done differently.

Today may well have been an aberration with us being undercooked, spurs looking very good and a howler from our new inexperienced goalie. Although typing it out that looks like a helluva lot of excuses

they were physically strong, quick and well drilled. Nobody really beat them 1 on 1 -that is the whole of Doku's game and he got short shrift when he came on, he was never going to change the game. Oscar and Cherki didn't really beat anyone 1 on 1 either. We needed quick passes through them and Phil, Cherki, Rodri and Oscar should have played together most of the second half with Haaland getting pulled.

Today our bench looked better than starting 11

That sums it up all

Pep keeps sinking us with his stupid decisions

I thought we were the better team right up until they score , after that there was a serious head loss and PTSD from last season crept in

Don’t understand the substitution of Ake for Ait Nouri , Marmoush was a non event after as he no one supporting him outside, should have trusted oreilly

Also don’t understand dropping Bernardo , the team still needs some old heads to guide the newer players
