New Turnstiles v Tottenham Hotspur Tomorrow

On the plus side if you managed to get on you could watch a computer graphic of the team bus on its way to the stadium from the campus on the screens under the stands, why? I haven't a clue

I make no apologies for repeating myself but I'm a business analyst who looks at (among other things) business processes. And in my line of work we use a technique called 'The 7 So Whats'. This involves looking at a proposed solution to business problem and asking "So what happens if we do this?' In other words, what are the foreseeable outcomes. The theory is that if you ask that question seven times, you should have a good idea of the ultimate consequences of your proposed solution.

In this case, the first and most obvious 'so what' is "So what if someone doesn't have NFC on their phone?". You don't have to be an experienced business analyst or member of Mensa to come up with that. The next is "So what if they do have NFC but it doesn't work?". Yet City had no solution in place to either.

We're still completely fucking amateurs operationally but no one at executive level gives a shit.
Always thought you were an accountant

Like PB said they havent properly put contingencies in place for any difficulties
They should know who hadn’t downloaded the update and somehow contacted them directly
No NFC phone, then there should have been a QR code, like the old system, as the new system does have a QR code reader
Unable to get in, there should have been a member of staff at every entrance with a device to check accounts, then let them in thorough the exit gates recording the issue, to contact them subsequently
Etc

Agreed. In my work I need to do risk assessments fairly regularly and contingency planning. Changing the entrance system all in one go, without at least sufficiently staffing the event, is stupidity of the highest order and most importantly, incredibly dangerous.
Indeed.

New systems often don't work as intended, so you test and you put fall back procedures in place.

Predictable. We all knew there was a high chance that this would happen.

Zero issues for 3 of us 45 mins before the game, entrance V. I even had 2 tickets on my phone and worked fine, better than last year tbh.
Well yes but for hundreds today was a nightmare. Standing outside the ground 20 minutes after the game after queuing for over an hour is extremely frustrating. If the turnstile had not started working, we would have been queueing until half time. Many City fans are elderly or have diabetes etc.

I can imagine there's quite a few of us that wished we'd not got in. Seriously though, I was waiting outside Block S for around 45 minutes and what I witnessed was utter carnage. I knew this would happen, the club seem to be bit by little bit, doing their best to piss us die hards off. They only put the prices down this season because they knew they'd have empty seats everywhere if they didn't. I'm sure Swales is still about somewhere.

My season ticket says enter by turnstile C.
Try to get in at turnstiles C, it would not allow access.
Go to entrance E said the steward ,straight in.
The IT department at City is abysmal.

Entrance E.
Took 34 minutes from joining queue to sitting in seat.
Saw Kickoff
No food and drink had in that time, you’re loss city.
Outside was chaos , unable to distinguish between entrance D and E.
Constant queue jumping, lots of f’in and jeffin.
Where had the barriers gone which have in the past been used to help queues form.
A lot of angry customers but it wasn’t the fault of the hand held security stewards.
At least 3 people told to calm down or they won’t get in
Scanners at the gates were slow between each customer, having to wait till 1 clears before the next.
Will I be there next game ?
Of course I will, but maybe a little earlier so I can spend money on beer and food, after all that’s what city really want.

On a side note, bloke next to me from Singapore paid £140.00 to a ticket site to watch that awful game

I'm V mate and 2 of my 3 worked

One flashed then went to cancelled which caused all sorts of issues for the stewards, luckily I was early and had the attention of 5 of em to sort me.

Was panicking a bit as I was the one left outside whilst the wife and lad were safely in and half way to the discounted beer offer.

Lesson learnt for me, ill be scanning myself in first and leave her behind...

I had ZERO issues getting in at C even though first time with new phone with no-barcode option.

The trick? Get there early! I went in at 11.30
I got 2 C at 12-20. Big queues by then but that’s the risk I took. 11-30 is too early for my liking though.
However 2 of the scanners had stopped working by the time I got there.

Samsung phone. Son's ticket who was on my phone worked fine and he went in. My ticket on my phone didn't work on the turnstile but tick appeared on my phone. Tried it 3 times and same result. Turnstile said wait. Steward used the key to let me through because my lad was through.

Gonna have to ring the club and ensure it doesn't count against me. Daft to not include a code if there is a code reader on the turnstile.

Got in an hour early in E for a pint. Easier than normal, but empty seats all around at kick-off with talk of random searches.

New seat numbering, scrapping letters for numbers, seemed to work, though there were hardly any tourists in 305.
