Will we win the league this season?

We were unbeaten at the end of last year with him not in the team and played our best football. He came back in and we went crap again. It's playing with 10 men most of the time.
Played 148 times. Won 94 times. Drew 29 times. Lost 25 times. You know your stuff.

as I recall Khaldoon looked quite unhappy about last season in his review. he stressed importance of making business before CWC and overall making it right which kinnd of started inn January when he approved big spending for the winter window. Im sure he wants to see serious improvement partially due to new arrivals (January+ summer), and because of Rodri comeback, and potentially Foden finding form and other players improving and deliver more like Doku, Bobb, Savinho etc.
especially so if he approved further big names like Donnarumma and Rodrygo maybe.

despite all this if we are not much better than 3rd place in PL and about last 16 of CL, hard to see how Khaldoon will accept that.

That second half display against Al Hilal in the CWC was a disaster. I think we all hoped it was just a blip and a lot of people were saying it doesn't really matter as it was akin to a pre season friendly. But that was a massive fuck up as we should have been challenging to win that.

Fast forward to the new season and as soon as we come up against a team that puts us under pressure our defence looks woeful again. It's worrying and I'm not sure if it's going to get put right any time soon.

After watching that today l, in reality we have little to no chance of winning the league. That looked way more than a bad day at the office, it looked like a bunch of individual players who had never met before had just been dropped off at a stadium and asked to play a game. It looks like there is no game plan for any scenario that takes place on the pitch. It was a really really worrying display. Maybe they'll prove me wrong and turn it around, but I just can't see how we can go from that level of chaos to winning the league.

What it most concerning is that we have a new director of football, new coaching staff, new players and yet the many issues we all saw last season were all there on display again today.

The body language of experienced players like Dias and Rodri seemed really off, very little urgency and lots of huffing and puffing, worrying considering it's the first game at home of a new season.

I'm not sure where we go from here.

We are in for a 2-3 seasons rebuild. Fans won't like that. Many won't believe it. But football history will tell you that's likely. Football is cyclical and we dominated for many years but we've lost world class players and not replaced them and there's question marks over Pep and his ethos - has football moved on? Personally I think Pep can turn it around - he's a genius - but we have to start signing top top quality and we haven't done that in a long time.

Nowhere near, last years weaknesses are still there, and more, soft as shit ,small ,easily bullied, can't defend, fuck all invention, can't see it getting turned around either. Yeah, we have been spoilt watching some of the greatest players you'll ever see play in unbelievable sides, now is the new normal perhaps? We'll be back.

I disagree on the quality of players. Reijnders, Marmoush, Cherki, Khusanov, Nico etc. These are top players. I don't want us to sign galacticos. What I really want is for us to stop dicking around with the ball at the back when it's not working in games like today. Use some of our new players to play on the front foot. Have a plan B. I thought that's what the other Pep was broken in for, but we've seen nothing new, nothing different from last season.

They are good players. None of them are world class and it remains to be seen if any of them will ever be world class.

But I agree, I don’t want us to sign galácticos either. However, there’s a middle ground. I would say the current Madrid side are a great example of this. For every Mbappe there’s a Vinicius or Camavinga.

At the end of the day you can’t lose world class players like we have over the last few years and not replace them but expect to still be as good. Today, bar Haaland, we didn’t have any world class players on the pitch. When I look at our treble winning side I’d say we had 4 or maybe 5. That’s the difference.

The players you mention might step into their shoes over time - let’s see - but we will have to be patient as this current side isn’t winning anything significant this season.

I never have and never will understand why all you armchair experts analyse one match and work out our entire season's prospects based on that.

Yes, we were awful today, probably worse than most of the matches we lost last season but Spurs didn't offer that much for all the hype, they were gifted two goals but didn't do much else, so considering how poor we were on the day it doesn't say a lot about them. First goal was a little unfortunate I felt, the second, well the sooner that's forgotten and we move on, the better.

But I saw enough last week to show that we can be real challengers. This is a new set of players playing only their second PL match and against opposition who have always been tough to beat in most recent years, and I rate Thomas Frank very highly too.

Dias has missed a lot of game time and Rodri has just come back from a serious injury so it's ridiculous to judge him after a few minutes of his second match back, especially as Pep has warned it's going to take time. No doubt that's exactly why he didn't put him on earlier.

Even last week you could see we were watching a team that is still getting used to each other yet everybody expects a bunch of players who barely know each other to hit the ground running against Premier League opposition. You should all know by now it rarely happens like that.

Maybe we can win the league - but we have to buck up.
Too slow to build up, unable to break the press, non existant fast counter attacking no update in - etc...
Every team with any nouse will play the same tactics - so I guess we'll see it week in week out till we can counter it.

Did Mancini have more time to get the boys together for the winner? Just asking as I can’t remember.

Was thinking it to be unlikely,..now I know there is no chance whatsoever!!?…call it kneejerk if you like, but that writing is on the wall already. We are totally unrecognisable from those teams that have given us such glory,..there is no getting round that,I’m afraid! This is football tho,and nothing stays the same.I’m still just so f’kin thankful that I’ve witnessed these halycon days,as I’m sure we all are,…short memories, some people..

Zero chance of title this season. Still weak af. take off your blue tinted glasses and you’ll notice we’re miles off the best teams in the league. Gonna be tough to get CL this season and I’m not joking.

3, 4 points tops from the next three matches.

Domestic cups are our best shot at any silverware this season if we’re lucky with the draw

Liverpool and arsenal are streets ahead of us. Possibly Chelsea ahead of us too

Pretty shocking how far we’ve regressed in the space of 12 months

It was always gonna happen at some point but never in a million years did I think it would happen this quickly and thought it would happen after pep
