47 | Phil Foden - 2025/26

Huge season and this will define him going forward. I say this because last year along with others, he was total gash.

But, with such an i flux of new players, phil is now an established player accustomed already to peps style.

We will be looking to him to show authority and grab games and inspire the team forward - the ability and talent is there. We need it back pronto

Same way all of his 'off the field issues' were to explain for him being awful all of last season

He's our Rashford, and I'm starting to wonder whether he's one of the players that Bernardo mentioned
What on earth is this post?

Our rashford?! He’s one of, if not the main reason we won our last title and he’s consistently been excellent for a number of years. When has rashford done that?

If what you're saying is, that Foden was excellent when surrounded by world class players at the top of their game, then I do agree with you

However, last season was his chance to step up and take over from De Bruyne, Gundogan, Bernardo but he spent half of the season out with 'off the field' issues

IMO, he hasn't got the mentality to be the top dog, he wants to ride on the coattails of others

Switch Rashford with Foden, and we likely still win the trophies we've won, and United would have still been shite

Our whole squad was awful. Prime KDB wouldn’t have been able to drag us anywhere else but top four let alone Foden, who had been broken mentally and was carrying a knock.
We also don’t win our last title with Rashford instead of Foden

Remind me who stepped up last season?

You’ve hinted he’s only excellent when surrounded by world class players or when we are playing well. Does that apply to other players as well? Brilliant in the treble season surrounded by in form players, but average last year.

You’re also saying he hasn’t got the mentality to be top dog. Despite stepping and dragging us to a title, often grabbing the game and scoring the important goal - West Ham to win is the league - do you remember that game

We’ve been amazing for what 4 out of the last 5 years, but your only going to judge him on one of those seasons?

We’re also one of the best clubs in the world, so chances are he’ll always be surrounded by world class, in form players. What’s he meant to do about that? Does he need to join stoke and prove himself for a shite team?

Aren’t all players usually better surrounded by world class players? Or am I going mad? Haaland with KDB.

Foden has shown that he can be one of the best midfielders in the game.

Foden is far off his best at present, apparently due to off-field issues.

I think what people are having the problem with is his laughing on the bench and on the side-line warming up when we were 2-0 down. Nobody is really disputing his talent mate but those moments caught on camera were going to get noticed and remarked on.

My biggest problem is that they all look so comfortable and need a rocket up their collective arses, but if I said that someone will be along with a doughy wet face asking..

"Why do you hate City?".

I haven’t really got an issue with that mate, it’s more the idea the Phil is only good because of other players. It’s an argument to me that doesn’t make any sense, considering he’s dragged us to a league title.

Based on that logic and last season you could apply that to every player and of course having world class players around you makes you better. Thats the same for players like Haaland.

I agree the rocket needs to be lit this season. Early days yet!

Why do you ha.... ;-)

They are all far too comfortable. Multi millionaires, pampered beyond belief, heated seats/blankets on the 'bench'...
