It's Quiet the £250m return

Tolm , I always pray your going to bring some good news..

Having a really tough time mentally and only thing that get me through is city ...

Think the current situation of the squad is mad ,,, how much of this is on

I think putting Haaland on the silly contract we did is stopping us from spending. Look at when Barcelona put Messi on the silly salary he was on. It stopped them spending. Maybe that was mistake on our part, because we can't spend the money Arsenal/Dippers can due to the high wage bill we have. They have a much lower wage bill, so therefore can spend to improve all areas of their squads.
I don’t agree at all we can and are clearly spending loads

I’m pretty pissed off that we have spent the thick end of £100m on Reis, Echeverri, Bah and Nypan and then sent them out on loan. Then, another £100m+ on Marmoush, Khusanov and Nico and hardly play them. What the fuck is going on?
Reis, Echeverri, Bah and Nypan cost us around £60m, which is pretty good going for 4 teenagers with big reputations.

Bluemoon is my life - sad as it may seem

Tried to take my own life in 2010 and can honestly say this place helps me everyday

With out this place I'd be gone

I hope I'm wrong too, but I'll elaborate a further.

Since last November, I honestly can’t recall the last time I saw the dominant City of old. Many fans were ecstatic with the drubbling of Wolves & believed "City were back".

This forced me to watch the match back twice, because I couldn't see what everyone else saw. Wolves could've/should've scored three against us & my fear was that a team with better quality players would've put us to the sword. A week later, Spuds did just that.

I'm seeing few signs of us consistently getting back to our best anytime soon. If I & many others have noticed our performances & seen the same thing, our management can't failed to have noticed either.

My question is, if this season we continue to regress at the rate we did last season, how long will it be before our board feel they're forced to act? Also, what action will they take?

We've practically bought a new team, & changed the whole coaching staff, so what options for change are left?

All things considered, I honestly think this is the inflection point that we're at. As I've said repeatedly, I seriously hope I've got this all wrong.
Youve answered all your own questions in that second last paragraph, we have or will next week an almost new young squad we've changed the whole coaching team, we've had 1 pre season game and 2 league games ,it's obviously going to take a while to take shape, we will have no real idea of what the future will look like much this side of Christmas there will be good weeks and not so good weeks, jumping to any conclusion is very premature

Sorry you are having a tough ride mentally mate.

Remember, we are a good lot on here and you can always reach out, even for a natter.

Know it's difficult, but try not let City dictate your moods, we don't know what we are going to get at the minute!

Well said, this.

There's no rot mate, just a normal transition after the greatest period in club history: the Treble and 4 in a row.

Some of the players are a bit oldish now and are being replaced by young players. These need time. Rebuilding goes together with inconsistency.

How long will it take? Nobody can say. Guess we want to compete for the trophies, but the main objective is to build a third great City team, after the 1st one with Aguero, David, Ferna, Kompany, Sane, Sterling..., and the 2nd one built around Kevin, Gundo, Bernie, Ederson and Stones.

If Pep can't win a CL place for next season, he's likely to go. Nobody is going to fire him. Given what he has given to the club, staying with us for so many years and winning so many trophies in difficult times (uefa, 115...), the club will be absolutely patient and rightly so. United were patient with Ferguson when he was failing between 2003 and 2006, we'll support Pep to the end.
As things stand, aside from a keeper & a RB, I think we're set, so I've no issues with our squad as things stand.

Where I have a serious issue is with Pep's current tactics & his seemingly reluctance to adapt to how teams are setting up & playing against us.

Both Wolves & Spuds setup the same & employed similar tactics. The difference between a 0-4 away win & a 0-2 home loss? The quality of the players the opposition had at their disposal.

With the potential addition of Donnarumma & reports we're still looking for a right back, it's not our squad that concerns me. It's how they're being setup & asked to play.

How long will Pep persevere with a tactic that's clearly failing, & how long will Manchester City Football Club sit tight before they act, if things don't markedly improve as the season progresses?

What concerns me about sending players out on loan is that I'm yet to see any of them come back and establish themselves in our first team. We may start to look to reverse that trend with those four, but it'll be a mighty turnaround from what we know.

I'm sorry to hear that, mate. There are dozens of great people who frequent this forum, it sometimes gets forgotten amidst all of the arguments. They've got your back.

I'll be completely honest, I'm just not ready to choose to think about that yet pal.

Happy to watch and see how the team gets on.

Ask yourself this though. If teams have 'found pep out', and his tactics no longer work, then anywhere he goes he should really 'fail' on the same way. Yet, most expectation would be that anyehere he wnds up he would probably thrive and his tram would dominate again. So I don't see why that shouldn't still be the case here.
This is why top level management is periodically changed in big corporations. Sometimes we become stale in our ideas & can't see the wood for the trees.

This is where management consultants come in to view the company with a fresh pair of eyes & ears, from a different perspective.

After City & a well deserved break from football, perhaps Pep will see things very differently. Perhaps the next manager coming to City will view things very different to how Pep currently does.

I hate the thought of losing Pep & never wanted to even contemplate it, but to be honest, something's changed with Pep since last summer & I find this constant "Will he. Won't he" extend his contract drama every other season, draining.

Teams are setting up against us exactly the same & are using the same tactics, but yet we persist with a tactical approach which has clearly been sussed out & is failing. Our management can't have failed to notice.

So if this season goes much the same as last season, & we've added several players & changed the coaching team, how long before you'd expect the board act, & what action would you expect them to take?

My specific point isn't about our new players or new coaching staff. It's about Guardiola's preference for inverted FB's which has been sussed out, has failed us & continues to do so.

Mate, dya honestly believe the new coaching staff & players will change the effect those tactics are having on our performances?

Let's say they don't. How long should our board wait before they act, & what should they do considering they've added several players & changed the coaching staff already. What's their next move if we continue to regress this season?

No idea, I'll think about if needs be next spring, not worrying about things that might not happen in August.

Khus was great when he played there for a few games last season? Pace to burn, aggressive and an actual defender? The inverting thing is finished now imo, let the flair players do their thing further up and stay more solid at the back.
I would like to see a back three of Khusanov, Stones and Gvardiol.

We really need to respond to the market.

If it's me, in fantasy football mode this week...

Sell -
Akanji
Ederson
Savinho
Gundo
Ake
Phillips
Kovacic
Gonzales

Bring

Baleba
Donnarumma
Rodrygo
Livramento
Gheui

It's gonna take something like radical surgery to have us clearly out in front again.
Fair play if we get half of that in a week. We do need to shift some NHG though.

What i don't get is if Ederson is desperate to leave and has already said his goodbyes, why is he still here?

As for the incomings.
I can't see us having any joy getting Baleba out of Brighton this week.
I still don't get why we want Donnarumma, he's just a more expensive version of Trafford.
We don't play Savinho in his natural position on the left, but we'd play Rodrygo there!
If Livramento was coming, he'd already be playing for us.
Geuhi ain't coming to sit on the bench and he deffo ain't starting when Gvardiol is fit.

Nothing sad about it at all mate.

It's a great place where, apart from the odd weapon, people care for and look out for each other.

So you just look after yourself and take what you need from being amongst like minded City fans.

And just reach out if you are struggling. People are only too happy to help.
