Yes, I do think that he is being coached to play it out from the back and so made a bad decision under pressure not to play it long when that was the best option. If he had been coached to play long when under pressure then he would have done that.You think it goes against coaching stuff to play it upfield ,when you cant make a short pass??i don't think so, nobody asks you to do a stupid pass like this, he had 5 other options and he just chose the worst one and game was done.
He has started the season as the first choice keeper but is under pressure from both Ederson on the bench and the Donnarumma links so maybe is under enormous pressure to be the perfect Pep keeper.
I am sure the coaching staff told him after the game that it is ok to just boot the ball up the field in that type of situation.
