It's Quiet the £250m return

Unless I've missed something our big signings have been Ait Nouri, Reijnders & Cherki. I wouldn't say any of them are huge, globally recognised talents. Cherki wasn't even our first choice and Reijnders was a complete unknown by the vast majority of us.

In fact, when was the last time we signed a huge globally recognised talent? Haaland? Before that was probably Aguero
Rather disrespectful of Gvardiol. He came for a significant fee, having already been a stand out at the World Cup.

He came highly rated but was he a huge, globally recognised talent? I'm not so sure. He's been fucking class though
What constitutes a huge globally recognised talent tho, in this day and age it depends on knowledge as a fan as to what is a huge globally recognised talent, realistically there is maybe four or five of those that actually transcend the sport and one of em already plays for us.

It is not disrespectful at all. Whilst he may have been making a name for himself he was no Sergio or Haaland. In fact, he still isn't.

Aguero is not even playing anymore and he is still doing television adverts in countries other than Argentina. Haaland is selling products on the television in countries where he has never played club football.

They are both world known figures. I dare say if you asked a random person across the world who Josko Gvardiol is they wouldn't have a clue. Even casual football fans may say they have heard the name but do not really know.

It is in no way disrespectful of Gvardiol or diminishing to him as a player. It is just how it is. Some here are so quick to think a City player is being "disrespected" unless everyone swoons at the mention of their name.

If he’s included in the team of the World Cup, then that would suggest someone globally recognised.

Both Reijnders and Cherki are exceptional talents and have been for a good while. Problem is that the media in the UK is so bound to the domestic game and promoting ‘brand’ players that other genuine talent goes underreported.

The issue is Pep's insistence on asking his RB to do these things...

Better go test some experimental stem cells on Cafu if we want someone capable of what Pep expects Rico to do every week.

Herein lies our problem. When asked to play the Rico role, John Stones said he had to ask Rico how to do it.

The inverted RB was in vogue a couple of seasons ago, but I can't think of a team we've faced or that I've seen recently bothering with it.

It seems we have a choice to make. We either find a Rico clone, or we change our RB strategy. It's one or the other, & I'd prefer the latter which would open up our RB options, plus give Pep the option to revert to his preferred system with Rico if deemed absolutely necessary.

He's a defender so obviously he's gonna be no Aguero or Haaland. Strikers are always looked as the shiniest toys.

I've said it multiple times, had a few get snarky but if we are going to feel the heat defensively for extended periods in game, which is looking likely again this season then Rico Lewis is not the answer so yes we probably do need a right back or find a way to play khusanov down that side in those moments
Be more crazy if you did rate Lewis on here

Any predictions for final incomings/outgoings before deadline day, Tolm?

Well if Gal Gadot is signing, I'll be the first to welcome her!!

Donnarumma in, Eddie out.

Akanji gone. Still expecting a twist in the Savinho saga.

I can see some very unexpected signings from quite a few clubs out there.

We've done absolutely shite without all these global superstars haven't we?

This is true. However, I still would not put his name in the group of world renowned player we have purchased and I do not believe it is "disrespecting" him to say it.

He can still be famous in certain circles and a good player without being in the lofty circles of Aguero and Haaland.

I really do feel sorry for Rico, I don't understand why we ask such a young and inexperienced player to play such a tactically complex role. Credit to him when we are playing well and dominant he makes it work but when we aren't he gets murdered in the transitions.

Obviously has a lot of determination and character to fight through some of his difficult games but the experiment needs putting in the bin.
