Such a downer because I'd been at Vicarage Road the previous Monday for the original replay, and I can still recall the hysteria when we won the coin toss for the second replay venue.

I'm sure it was 0-0 at Half Time and we were holding our own.

Wasn't Nixon at fault for one of the goals?
I seem to recall the ball rolling one circumference over the Platt Lane goal line

I was at Vicarage Road too. Went on the Special. I agree with you about the coin toss!

Was the 2nd replay on the day of the next round?

A certain well known face seemed to take over a lot of the pubs near the Etihad and they closed pretty soon after he bought them.

Wasn’t there also a pub directly opposite the ground near where the temporary club shop is close to the Tesla garage. Which opened as Summerbees and closed pretty quickly.

For holding at a corner. Didn't look like the correct award either at the time or that night on TV but, even if it was justified, it was the kind of thing that happens a dozen times every game with a penalty never being given.

We did get a slightly dodgy penalty of our own about ten minutes later, IIRC for a foul on Lillis, which was probably a case of the ref evening it up. Unfortunately, Lillis twatted it against Coton's right-hand post at the North Stand end.

No, the rules were different in those days.

We drew the original replay on the Monday at Vicarage Road and then played the Second Replay the following Thursday

I think your scenario happened in 2011 when we drew at Notts County but couldn't play the replay on the scheduled date because it clashed with our Europa League game in Salonika

I'm sure we played the 4th Round replay v Notts County on the Sunday with the rags playing their 5th Round tie the previous day.

The draw for the Quarter Finals had already been completed and it was "Notts County or Manchester City or Aston Villa will play Everton or Reading"

It must be my mind playing tricks on me. Was it odd that we played the replay on the Monday rather than Tuesday or Wednesday?

I know we played Brentford away in the FA Cup on the day of the next round due to 2 x postponements. I went down to London all three times.

Me too. It was the celebrations that flummoxed me! Clearly remember him doing that daft side to side thing and mistakenly thinking he must have scored.
Schoolboy error. @gordondaviesmoustache can kiss my swingers though!
I missed that game but went to 2nd replay - on the Kippax with my dad. Apart from Juventus away in Europa League, it’s the coldest I’ve ever been at a match.
That was a poor City team. Great kit though.
