would be horrible mismanagement if this doesnt go through. We won't win any major competition which our current GK options. A shaky keeper causes panic all over the defense which is the last thing we need. Not arsed about Rodrygo etc but a keeper is a must (and ideally a RB but that seems a pipe dream)

Ederson on the downward slop regardless if he stays or not and had a season riddled with injuries
Ortega seems not in Peps plans
Trafford inexperienced for the pressure cooker that will be big game PL matches and the CL - his only top flight experience was part of a season with Burnley ffs

I’d agree if the Turkish window closed same time as ours. If I was gala I would fuck city around and try and swoop in for donarumma once the window has closed for the majority of clubs.

It does seem though the gala have genuinely moved on. Only way donnarumma is a city player is if he goes on loan for a year somewhere and we get him on a free once ederson leaves on a free next year imo. Unlikely but not impossible

Disagree mate, we are in the worst position here as the Turkish market closes 10 days after ours. They are stringing us along for Ederson who they want for virtually nothing. City don’t want to pay a massive fee for a player that will be out of contract in less than a year. But when you consider some of the money we have pissed away it’s a travesty that we haven’t put our hands in our pockets for Donnarumma.

be patient once Ederson out we move in and make it official?
they must look at other options given how slow this whole Ederson to Galata project is and still not sure it happens.

I completely agree. I think it's down to the fact that he is an exceptional shot stopper and therefore has a great highlight reel and some standout performances, but dig into his stats, and this makes zero sense.

Ignoring his passing ability and comfort under pressure, as that has been brought up already.
(IMO his stats are somewhat masked due to PSG's dominance in Ligue 1)

His other glaring deficiencies are also a huge red flag for the way that we play.

Sweeper Keeper
His percentile for sweeping behind his defence is 28%; he performs fewer such actions than 72% of other goalkeepers

Aeriel Duels
His stats for aerial duels are even worse, where he is in the 18th percentile. 82% of goalkeepers perform better than Donnarumma when collecting and defending aerial balls into the box. This is unbelievable for a keeper of his size and stature.
