We've been following Donnarumma since he was 16. Same as we have with Cherki at Lyon, City follow these players. Donnarumma isn't just a player pulled out of the hat. The club have kept an eye on him since he was 16. But there's never been an opportunity to explore him as an option, due to him signing for PSG and us having a prime Ederson.

3 Italian journalist including Fabrizio at the start of the news about Donnarumma came out saying City's interest in him is long standing. Now there's an opportunity to act on that interest with him being outed of PSG.

That’s one way of looking at it. I think the longer it’s strung out the bigger the risk - time kills deals and all that

Also, what happens if Trafford has another nightmare on Sunday, our bargaining position is over, we’ll pay them anything they want. In the meantime Chelsea, United or anyone else could be whispering in his ear

I simply don’t buy the ‘he only wants City’. He wants to leave PSG, if a decent opportunity comes in that removes his risk of being stuck there, he might take it. Remember, Robinho to Chelsea - how did that turn out

Either way - we’ll find out soon enough

PS - the ‘one way of looking at it’ was a genuine reply. Not a sarcastic ‘that’s one way of looking at it….’

Nobody else is in his ear, where has this paranoia come from.

Chelsea too busy buying up teenagers to add Donnarumma to their 17 senior keepers.

Donnarumma will sit in the stands till Jan rather than join the rags.
 
Don’t get excited city won’t be signing anyone else before the window closes. The board is too interested in saving money. If we finish 4th it will be high fives all round.

Agree . We’ve won the champions league and now we will drift back into top 4 finishes.you’ve got to admit before pep our hunger in the transfer market smashed anyone and when pep we got a coach who turned it to magic with a core group of players but now that has ended and pep is just seeing it out as you can see his reluctance to change his ways . This season will not work out like many think it will .

100% agree with all of this, lots of folk sleep walking into this season.
 
It's a tricky one for the club. They are banking on Trafford to be the long term solution but if that experiment fails which is entirely possible at this point and we had the chance to buy Donnarumma this summer and passed will a keeper anywhere near his quality be available next summer?

There is a chance of that to be honest and once we hit the top of the mountain for whatever reason, the club seem to have possibly assumed it would just continue while others got the bit between their teeth and pushed back and have possibly now even gone past us with squad quality.
