Savinho | City reject Spurs approach

Got to agree. We’ve made a host of poor decisions since the treble and this is right up there. Not selling him for that price is ludicrous!!

We probably could not get a replacement we thought was good enough. In which case it’s 100% the right decision. Savinho has no choice but to knuckle down and do his best. He will be desperate to get in that world cup squad and he has a lot of competition. I do think he will up his G/A quite a bit this year.

If he still wants out in 12 months flip him. We may take a hit on what Spurs have offered us but so what? We also might not if he starts to up his numbers. We made the mistake of selling Alvarez last summer for big money and not replacing him and whilst he was more established Savinho player a lot of minutes last season and presumably we learned the lesson.

It is PR, players have people to post on socials they rarely do it themselves. His move didnt happen so now him and his agent are doing damage control.

From what I've seen the "damage" is maybe 10 people in this thread.

And it's hilarious you say now "players aren't in control of their social" when those people were losing their minds about a suitcase in the back of a shot of a sky blue pool table.

To everyone else it just looks like a 21 year old guy didn't immediately reject 4 times the wages and a chance to be a star player - in a World Cup year. Who's now being professional (because they do approve their PR, look at Isak) and fine with staying. Which would be absolutely no different to Eddie and Bernardo.

I dont think he’ll play that much. Bobb, Cherki, Foden, Silva, can all play there… Plus Pep is likely unhappy about him wanting to go. He’ll likely leave in 12 months for a fraction of £70 mil… Bonkers decision for me

His touch is fuck all like Mahrez and he can’t hit a barn door.

Not selling him for 70 million is madness, he’ll never warrant that again
Time will tell. His first touch might not be as good as Mahrez(who’s is) but he has got a fantastic touch and close control. Also happens to be quicker than Mahrez and at a much higher level than he was at 21. Once he starts putting a few chances away opinions will quickly change.

The kid has got real talent to become a top winger. Fun time Franky seems to know what’s he’s doing and is very keen to sign him too.

A peculiar logic, but I will roll with it for now.

When then am I able to say a signing is a bad signing?

Is it measured in seasons?
Is it how many trophies we won during their time and their contribution?

Lets take an easy example..when could it be said Phillips was a bad signing using your logic?
Anytime you feel like saying it. There's been plenty of bad signings these past few seasons . Just because a player comes here doesn't necessarily mean he's any good. Saviniho didn't cost much and we should definitely have taken the spuds offer whatever it was . We now end up with a player who wanted away and a manager who will most likely alienate him. Poor business.

He scored quite a few goals, 9 I think for Girona but was it from the left. I think. On the right he gets off balance trying to get his left foot on it and leans back or miscues it so the goals have dropped off.

I would prefer him in the left with Doku as impact sub and Bobb and Cherki do the right
Hopefully won't be long before R Heskey and McCaiido are knocking on the door too

If an offer was made we should have taken it. I just don't think he's going o develop. Should have used the money to buy Fatawu form Leicester. Young, fast, scores goals and looks good every time I have seen him

You don't think if Pep said he was going to alienate him we wouldn't have rejected the first two bids?

1. Pep doesn't actually say he's going to alienate a player, he just does it... gradually and subtly.

2. You don't honestly think that Pep is involved in the financial side of anything at City do you? Bless.

It's insane to say "the manager, CEO and DoF have absolutely no consensus or communication on who we buy and sell". Even in Bluemoon's most anti-logic thread.

But then you put "bless" too. Wild.

Ok so logically:

1. To what - to make him want to leave again? Make him want to leave harder? You're telling me someone who you were all mad at for being absolutely desperate to leave now needs to be subtly alienated.

2. If Pep was about to devalue of our asset I don't think we'd reject 2 bids for him. Pep obviously has some say.

Of course Peps part of the financial side of things. He has worked with TB and FS for 15 years they are/were a team. All the decisions will be made with discussions and input from all 3.

I really don’t understand why we are not selling him. Madness, awful touch, work ethic and his shooting is absolutely out of control.

Because the club whilst totally agreeing with your assessment, probably just wanted to give you something else to moan about ?

Keeping our loyal supporters happy
